Exactly. With those guys lined up, who TF do you watch out for? I could see us going for it on a lot of 4th and ones. What an arsenal of weapons.

only go after duckett if we can get him for cheap...i dont see this signing happening because we already have jones/washington/houston and i think we are fine in the backfield

Hey, you never know what's going on behind the scenes. Duckett may have told his agent, "I want the Jets, period. Get me there!" So his agent calls Mike and Mike says, "Sure, bring him in here and let's see what the deal is." If he wants to play here, it could mean a reasonable contract. Like somebody else said, nobody's exactly knocking down his door.

if he doesnt come here he'll definitely go to SEA. theyre looking for insurance on Alexander, and are probably willing to sign him to a better contract.

but then again, we dont know what the player is looking for. i would think if im a RB and getting to team up with jones and washington, i would expect to win alot of games.

Why the hell would we sign Tj Duckett? Other RBs who are of equal or lesser talent are getting 10+ million dollar contracts, and at FB, how much better is he going to be than Askew who everyone on this board seemed to hate?

What's wonderful about this franchise nowadays is, we're finally being taken seriously again. We haven't had that since Parcells was named HC and everyone was optimistic over our chances then. It's a whole new world now, finally, after 10 years. It's the whole aura, the atmosphere, the moves we're making, the players we've already got. And it's us developing a reputation for a great place to be and a great locker room with a CS that really works at it and has convinced the team we can really do it.

We've said this many times in the past 6 months, that players would be attracted to the Jets because of the possibilties. This is a team that's being taken seriously as a future contender and the word is out around the NFL, and we haven't had this kind of feeling in a very, very long time around here.

Maybe this could lead to a 3 way trade. I'm not totally sure how these deals work , but remember the Abraham deal , or have I just had one too many brewskies?
    TJDuckett???? Just doesn't make sense.

As said before for the right price this is another great signing. Trust Tangini here they know what they want in this team. Duckett would become an instant and great goal line back. The coaches are obviously unhappy with what Houston brings as the bruiser and Leon is someone who will spell Jones now. Therefore we could really use Duckett in the backfield to be the bruiser.

If tangini thinks the price is right then this will be a done deal and Houston will be on his way out. This is a great interview for the coaches and if Duckett truly does want to play here then that makes it that much easier.

Jones/Duckett/Washington would be the perfect backfield for the Jets next year and for a few years. It would just solidify the fact that the Jets would be set at RB for the next few years.

I don't believe your allowed to sign other team's free agents and trade them for draft picks, I think you've had a few too many :drunk:

Maybe I haven't seen enough of Duckett but he does not seem an ideal fit for the Jets offense. T.Jones' versatility makes him a better fit. I was thinking that Ahman Green would prosper here for a year or two but Jones was the unexpected better option. Let Duckett go somewhere else and lets put our money and effort to a greater need.

I usually agree with most of your posts, but I'm not nearly as high on Houston as I was when he first arrived.

Now, if you were talking Jones, Washington and Sowell, now THAT's a combination! (I figured you'd like that one!) LOL...

Thats not what I meant. Player plus pick , then trade the pick not player.

    Duckett = Suckit.

what has he done in his NFL career to warrant such attention?

Pass. Houston will be fine as a backup.

Well, in all fairness to Houston, has he really had enough carries to fully evaluate him? This "Running Back By Committe" horseshit hasn't done anything to spotlight any talents he has. Maybe he's one of those late bloomers who needs tons of touches to finally break out, but be that as it may, alas, we may never find out.

One thing is pretty obvious now though, we won't be having anymore RBBC after this. It's gonna be nice not having to watch a game and play a f*cking guessing game as to who's going to carry the ball.

Something to be remembered is Barnes was Jone's blocking back in Tampa and is also a ST player

There will only be so many carries to go around. Duckett will cost way more than Houston, and he'd be the third string RB. This makes no sense to me at all, unless there is a team interested in trading for Houston. Houston is the ideal #3 RB. Fairly versatile, much more so than the one trick pony sort of RB Duckett is.

If there is only enough $ left for one more player in FA, it dern well better be for a RT or RG. Duckett.... yek. He couldn't steal carries from Dunn, and when Portis went down, he never saw the field behind Betts. The guy has failed with two teams so far.... he's worse than freakin Barlow IMO.

I think Houston is a better RB than Duckett. Duckett isnt worth the plane ticket to NY in my opinion

Quit pulling punches, T-Bird. Why don't you say how you really feel instead of beating around the bush? Man, I hate it when a guy hedges with wishy-washy posts.
