matt schaub is the real deal. he is the third best qb to come out of the 2004 nfl draft. the knock on matt coming out of college was that he wasnt mobile and he had a weak arm. matt has lost weight since and is mobile. He also has shown he has an nfl arm. he was listed among the top 10 qbs in the nfl and college who you would build your franchise around last year by si.com. the only college qb who was listed was notre dames brady quinn. matt leinart, vince young and jay cutler were not listed. why would we trade him? mike vick was also on that list. as a falcon fan i have mixed feelings about letting him go. vick is the face of the franchise, but schaub could be the next brett favre we let slip through our hands.
Yeah, it just seems like a case of bad timing for you guys (similar to what happened with us and Lamont Jordan). You've got a young guy with a great upside, but you can't sit the guy who's ahead of him on the depth chart. :shit:
http://boards.atlantafalcons.com/index.php?showtopic=148001 This is all you need to know. All of there fans liken trading shaub to the way they traded favre years ago! When an entire fan base sees this guys potential it really makes me wonder how good of a qb he can actually be. Physically he has all the tools
i just hope vick doesnt break down after schaub is gone. i dont think we are a good match for a trade. i think seattle is a better fit. i heard they were offering a second round pick and backup qb senecca wallace for abraham. i would strongly consider that trade if i was the jets fo. imo schaub is worth a first round pick. i would never trade a first and a second for abraham. then we would have to pay him top dollar. it sounds like the peerless price all over again. i would also consider trading up if i was the jets for leinart. a franchise qb would give fans hope for the future and get you through a tough 2006 season. lets face it the jets were unwatchable last year.
It seems to me that if a deal isn't met between the Falcons and the Jets...then we will probably trade for Ramsey... If the deal for Schaub fell through though I would want us to look into trading up for Leinart.
i dont know if he will be the next brett favre, but i think he will be a starting qb for a long time in this league. i would rate ben roethlisberger 1, eli manning 2 and matt schaub 3 among qbs from the 2004 nfl draft. remember this was a strong draft for qbs.
I said may. I don't know if he can be a good NFL QB. I was strongly opposed to bringing him here, so that shows you my confidence in him. I was just supporting the point that Schaub's value dropped because he was surrounded by a good QB class. I like what I have seen from him so far, and I would love to bring him in here.
The Falcons are trading scared. Don't deal with them at all. They want too much for Schaub and give too little for Abe. Screw them. No Deal....
Two words... Rob Johnson. They shouldn't overreact too much. He made a living off one game and proved to be mediocre at best for the rest of his short-lived career. So there are upsides and downsides to things in everything in life. I think a fair offer is the #2 and Schaub or the #1.
