He was and is a Pro Bowl QB who is under 30 going to a divisional rival with a lot already going for them. Jet fans can spin this trade anyway they want but we're just further behind two teams in the division right now. Way further behind. Culpepper is much scarier than Brees and gives Miami what they've been missing since Marino. We're talking about QB's with no arms or resumes and the two top teams in the East have Pro Bowlers. I actually think Culpepper is so happy to be out of Minny and with a real coach that he's going to have a helluva year. Keep that in mind before putting a simplistic spin that the other teams in our division aren't getting much better while Hempstead burns.
It's a good thought, but is Culpepper still the same player after the injury? If you do a whole Culpepper/Phins post, and don't even mention the fact that he finished last year on crutches and hasn't played since, then it's a worthless post. Yes, a healthy Culpepper to Miami would be very good for them, but no one knows his status.
Culpepper doesn't scare me one bit. He's so beyond overrated that his name should just be Dante Pennington.
Yup. Look at it this way. With Randy Moss, HE still threw a boatload of interceptions, and the lions share of his TD Passes went to Moss. In 6 games without Moss, he threw 6 TD's/12 Int's..... I hate Brees, but Culpepper couldn't carry his jock. Now, if Miami can get Moss or T.O., thats another story...
Culpepper was absolutely TERRIBLE last year after Moss left. He makes horrible decisions and takes to many risks. When Saban attempts to put the reigns on him, which he will, Culpepper will start to overthink to much and get away from his advantage of incredible athletic ability and size. he will have some options and a solid running game to support him, but he will NEVER be as good as he was when he had Moss and a run and gun offense. Even Ferrote had success in the system with Moss in Minn. when Daunte went down. He is good, and will make some plays, but he does not make them playoff locks, or even AFC powerhouses, they will be solid, but he is not the answer there. Plus, his knee, the worst injury a football player can have, is all messed up, not buying into him at all.
Totally. NFL.com has odds that T.O. goes to the Cowgirls, which would be utterly fascinating. Parcells and Owens. It's like matter and anti-matter colliding.
looks like peenington and Culpepper have something in common...they were both better with moss....so what went wrong in Oakland this year... on a side note...at least Pennington can still compete without his superstar receiver..
he should scare you. He will be in a system that he is familiar with, and will have at least a better #2 reciever and a much better TE. His O-line, while not great, will be improved. I see him as going to be dangerous. He will want to prove the critics wrong, and he is talented enough to do just that
But will he have a better #1? All that prove your critics wrong nonsense only applies to certain personalities. I'm not sure how close to Daunte you are, but I don't think you can honestly list that as a reason.
You could be correct but the Miami media is saying it will be Oct or later for him to play this year. However, next year may be a whole different kettle of fish
The problem is you are not looking ahead in years that DC make s them better for some years to come making it harder for us tio catch up
he wont be ready guys, he had a serious knee injury. he'll never be the same. miami fans why the hell are so excited? you're in the same bout we're in now!
They will hardly get to use Culpepper this year and while it may solidify the position in the future, he will have lost some of his mobility and no one knows what kind of passer he is anymore. Is he the Randy Moss QB who put up 40 TD and 10 INT's(not exact #'s) or is he the guy who couldn't complete a pass last year unless it was the other team. NO ONE knows the answer to that question. As Jet fans, we hope for the latter. And while they wait for Culpepper to be their franchise QB they have wanted, their defense just ages another year....
There is no better #1 in the league. His #1 guy is going to be solid for him. He will have a better running game, imo, and he will have better overall receivers if you combine the three primary ones as a group. the only question mark for me is his hands. He does fumble a lot and the way the Fins play, one TO that is run back for a TD could spell disaster, as they play close games in a tight division. As for proving the critics wrong, I cant say I "know" anything about Daunte's personality, but with his talent, and how he was treated this off season by the Vikings, I can imagine there is a sizeable chip on the shoulder. I would not for a minute say that this is a definable edge, but I do consider the revenge factor with certain players. Daunte strikes me as one of them. The knee would make me worry. My brother, a fin fan, has said as much. But he passed the physical, so they must think he will be ready to go.
There are so many IRA's in here it isn't even funny. Culpepper could play in the preseason. He's already running sprints. His arm alone makes him far superior to Penny or Brees. Look at his numbers, people. He has a top 5 QB rating. His INT numbers are not as bad as some clowns in here make it out to be. He had a scaled down offense run by Meathead Tice with no real threats last year. Chambers, Brown, McMichael and Saban make Culpepper a top QB again if he's even remotely healthy.
It's so simple. All you have to do is look at Culpepper's stats, and the offense he's coming into. Game Over.....
