It was all over Sportscenter. Him and Mirabelli had a misunderstanding. He thought Doug said something else.

While I believe that was blood, I'm guessing 'belli said something stupid

Well, for the most part, I've always been a voice of reason. I'm just usually in an argument, so noone cares what I have to say.

Seriously though, someone has to fill in while 10P10 is conspicuously absent.

Does anyone know what happened to him? I haven't seen him since before the Sox series.

Yeah Mirabelli said something like "We got some good publicity off that."

How Thorne interpreted what he did is beyond me.

I totally agree. All 2004 did was bring attention to everyone who pays attention to baseball just how freaking pathetic the Boston franchise has been.

Yeah, it's been over a week now. Last thing we need is for one of the few sane people to go dark on us.

As for junc, I'm looking forward to a "Loose Change" style conspiracy video about Schilling's sock.

    Does it even matter?

I think I'd respect him more if wasn't blood

    Why?

I actually agree with Francona. You hate to use words like heroic in the age we live in for a sports personality, but what he did was one of the most heroic actions I've ever personally witnessed in a sporting event.

I would think Jets fans, after seeing Chad's return, would feel the same. We're talking about a special level of toughness to be able to play through something like that. A stitched up ankle that's bleeding has to be, at the very least, distracting. Yet he pitched in typical Schilling style.

I despise the Sox, but just like I have to give respect to Ortiz and Manny for the things they do, Schilling has to get the same sort of respect.

BTW: They showed clips on Sportscenter last night, it was definitely blood. You could see it as the spot grew. There's no way it was paint.

Thorne apologized for making it public, he didn't say what he said wasn't true.

I guess a smart person like yourself could explain why the "blood" from his sock against the yanks doesn't match the "blood" from the HOF sock(I know why):

junc, your kidding me right? you're still contending it wasn't blood, pathetic

frankly i can't believe this is even a worthy topic for a thread...and Thorne most definitley retracted what he said, and apologized....he didn't apologize for just making it public.........the HF sock is froim the World Series btw, not Game 6 of the Yank series

He didn't retract what he said, he claimed "misunderstanding" just to end it but he never said Mirabelli didn't say it to him.

Regardlss of whether it was blood or not(I never thought it was) he pitched great on a bad injury and won Boston a WS. I tip my cap to Curt who has been one of the top 2-3, if not the best, big game SP of his generation.

I knew where the sock was from but I wanted to see if the non-stupid poster knew that.

Umm, actually Thorne said he overheard the comment, and misunderstood. Not that Mirabelli said it directly to him. He was eavesdropping, and he was wrong. He admitted it.

The one in the HOF is from the World Series not the ALCS

Wait, Junc... you are seriously saying it was not blood? I thought you were just joking. Oh man, that is great. That takes it to a new level.

....You should take the Curt Challenge!:

"Someone gave me a great idea to end this once and for all. No one will ever need to bring it up again. I?ll wager 1 million dollars to the charity of anyones choice, versus the same amount to ALS. If the blood on the sock is fake, I?ll donate a million dollars to that person's charity, if not they donate that amount to ALS. Any takers?? -- 4.27.07, Curt Schilling

He knows no one will take him up on that offer, I have never believed it was blood- it doesn't look like blood. Again thoguht it doesn't matter but I will never believe that was blood. If he was bleeding a little more blood would have shown up than a couple of dots.

Meh. . . I brush it off. It's how junc copes with the wretched, wretched memories of the most cataclysmic collapse in the history of organized sport.

Whatever gets you through the night 'salright, 'salright

Don't need a sword to cut through flowers oh no, oh no

Do it wrong or do it right 'salright, 'salright
Don't need a watch to waste your time oh no, oh no

Obviously it's not from the ALCS, but why would he have been bleeding during the World Series game and not during the ALCS? You, as usual, are grasping at straws.

Then take him up on the offer yourself. Since you are the almighty nyjunc and are never wrong, you can't lose, right?
