When the past season ended the jets were to draft--25--37--59--63--89---164

Due to trades and its own picks the jets wound up with thomas jones ,darrelle revis and david harris ---THREE QUALITY PLAYERS

All of the so called experts who grade these drafts omitted jones---He was actually our first pick

ah ya you could say that but you'd have to then factor in all the players other teams got for picks. it'd get complicated. look at washington, most of their picks this year were used to get players last year. i think the draft analists are grading the draft DAY performance of teams more then anything.

not complaining though, harris, revis and jones- great draft- second best draft under mangini

They were set to draft --25--37--59--89--164

The 63 was from switching 37 with Chicago for Jones. So I think you have to count Jones as being part of the draft just like they are all counting Moss to the Pats as part of the draft. Just because the Jones trade seems like it was made so long ago, many of the so called experts don't include him as part of our draft.

And by the way I loved our draft. Wish we would have had the 4th round pick back though

i agree, he def should be included in any real analysis of our draft- just saying most of these expert guys wouldn't be bothered looking past the draft day. most make their analysis based on the picks teams had at 12:00 draft day, they dont look further to see where these picks came from

No way you can consider our off-season / draft an A+ when compared to competitors. I’m not saying we didn’t get quality players – I’m saying we didn’t close any gaps.

we might not have closed gaps against teams like the pats, but look at the others teams we play twice a year- we significantly widened the gap between us and the bills/phins- in our favour

These are the same people who picked the Jets to win 6 games or less last year. Does it matter what they think?

I love how we went quality over quantiy. Hopefully this is our new strategy for drafting.

...and let's all just be prepared. The same pundits will predict us to stink this year and they'll use two main arguments:

    1) The Pat's huge offseason (Even though we play them only twice. So let's say we lose both, that's only a one game difference in the negative column versus last year) and

    2) our "tougher schedule". This one always baffles me. As a team enters each new season, there are only two, that's right TWO games a year that are determined by your performance in the prior year. All the remaining 14 games are pre-determined: AFC East games (6), Pre-scheduled conference opponent which this year will be the AFC North (4) and Pre-scheduled non-conference division opponets which this year will be NFC East (4). So, by finishing 2nd last year, we've "punished" ourselves by having to face Tennessee and Kansas City based on strength of schedule.

The bigger point, anything can happen from week to week and you never know. But the pundits need to write something, and we don't have Randy Moss, so they'll say we stink. Remember how they drooled all over Dallas in the pre-season with T.O.? They went just as far as we did, wild card and out!

most of the people who write that stuff look for the quanity and not the quality...we had a awesome draft because we got three starters in thomas, revis, and harris and i feel that bender and stucky are sleepers who will be good pro-players..im impressed by stucky everytime i watch film on him....he has good hands but i love the moves he has and the open field running..if hes healthy, i think he will really good

Except playing the NFC EAST and AFC NORTH is a hell of a lot harder then playing the NFC NORTH and AFC SOUTH like we did last year. Last year our two odd games were Cleveland and Oakland. This year it's KC and Tennessee. So that point is valid.

as of now it is, but when all the teams we play on our schedule start the season, guaranteed that their combined records wont be as good as last season...someone always bites the dust...my guess is a few wont live up to the hype and one or two teams that we play, who are expected to be crumby will rise up a little, but...

time to stop basing our schedules on the performance of teams LAST YEAR!!!

Not necessarily...For this season sure, I was for it...

Last season they correctly went quantity, and got quality players...

But depth on the DLine still has to be filled, so trading up isn't always the best option for future drafts.
