wow feel the hate in the room. id take him any day on my team. he is still a pretty damn good receiver and will always do the things most of these receivers these days are scared of. block and catch the ball over the middle. those are his 2 best attributes.
yeah he is a pretty good receiver and he thought he was a pretty good receiver on Carolina until they brought thee exact same body style of him except it was the 07 version(Jarrett).. haha the funny part about the whole situation was he was on epsn the draft day and he was talking about how he gonna school the kid on how to use his body etc... looks like he wont be teaching shit....
it just doesn't make sense to go after him at this point, we don't need another possesion receiver, and we certaintly don't want one who thinks he's better than he actually is. There's a reason why he got cut for unproven jarrett. As much as i would like to see meshawn in green this year, i just can't see our FO going for him after those comments.
I dont want Keyshawn on this team anyway, unless we lose Justin. I wish we could trade him for anything.
Wait a minute, let me get this straight...he wants less than J-slack, so we get a #2 talent level receiver and our big target that we need for the red zone and people don't think its a good idea? As long as he doesn't mind #3 then he'll be perfect.
So we should overpay Keyshawn to be a #3 for the sole reason that we're overpaying J-Mac to be a #3? We're rebuilding, I doubt Keyshawn is even on the radar. I'm not even going to get into the fact that Keyshawn will want to start. Because he knows what the salary he is asking for will dictate.
Why you gotta be a hater? Key can still play. He is a big target. He would be the best possession/goal line receiver on our team. And he could lead by both hands-on teaching and sheer force of willl. Like I said, as long as he is willing to be #3, go get him. And logic would dictate that if you can have a better product for less money, then it behooves to choose the less expensive product. We need a proven veteran that can still play and Key is definitely an upgrade over J-slack...and cheaper. Its a no-brainer.
you must be buggin man...... he obviously said he is not signing for veteran minimum he still thinks he is the number one receiver. and besides that he complains like a baby all day long... for veteran leadership we have coles he is good enough. To me he was lucky to land in Tampa Bay and win a Super Bowl
Why am I a hater? Because I don't think we should sign a mouthy, self-important wideout to the #3 spot for #2 money? If you don't think Keyshawn will demand starting time, did you really pay attention to him when he played for us? I don't mean on the field, either. He wants to start, thinks he can start for any team, and he isn't good enough to start for us anymore. And I'm no fan of J-Mac, I think he is a bum and should be cut. His first season with us was promising and it was all downhill from there. But it doesn't mean throw too much money at a guy that could create chemistry problems because of his ego.
Keyshawn is trying to create a market for himself. He is over the hill and really just a # 3 wide receiver at best. Its all self induced hype. No even worth 500k. Besides, we need a deep threat, not someone who goes over the middle.
He's retiring: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2879994 Keyshawn Johnson has declined an offer from the Tennessee Titans and has decided to retire. The wide receiver is expected to announce his decision at a Wednesday afternoon news conference. Sources told ESPN.com's Michael Smith that Johnson will pursue a career in television. Johnson, who turns 35 in July, was released by the Carolina Panthers earlier this month after the Panthers drafted Southern California wideout Dwayne Jarrett. He had 70 catches for 815 yards and four touchdowns for Carolina in 2006. Johnson, the No. 1 pick in the 1996 NFL draft, has started 162 of 167 games in his 11 NFL seasons that spans stints with Carolina, Dallas, Tampa Bay and the New York Jets. He has 814 career receptions. He worked as an analyst on ESPN's televised coverage of the the NFL draft last month.
This guy has done very well for himself with savvy business investments- one of the few NFL guys who has really stood out in that respect. He knew that football wasn't a long-term thing and that he had to plan for the future.
What a bummer...he could have played a couple more years... I will never forget his toughness...Vinny was never the same without him...
