Connecticut football fans of the New York Giants and the New York Jets might be able to leave the car at home and ride the rails to the games next year. A regional train service that could take passengers to Secaucus, N.J., for games at Giants Stadium is in the works, the state Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said. The service, which DOT officials said is a pilot program, could be ready in time for the 2009 season and would run on Sunday game days through the fall and winter. "This is something we?ve been looking at for some time," Eugene Colonese, administrator in the DOT?s rail bureau. "We?re still figuring out the service levels and the scheduling." Trains originating in New Haven would travel on Metro-North Railroad tracks to New Rochelle, N.Y., then branch off on the route used by Amtrak into Penn Station in Manhattan. From there, trains would travel on tracks used by NJ Transit to Secaucus, where passengers then would catch a shuttle train to the Meadowlands. NJ Transit equipment likely will be used, Colonese said. New Haven Line trains are not equipped to run into Penn Station or on NJ Transit tracks, he said. The football game plan follows word of plans being developed by the DOT and the MTA for a a new station at Yankee Stadium for the 2009 opening of a new ballpark. Connecticut is working with Metro-North and MTA to determine a schedule of New Haven Line trains that would run direct to Yankee Stadium when the new station opens.
Myself and other CT jet fans should be even more concerned that there is a Dolphins sports Bar located in hartford, and yet we don't have ONE official bar ANYWHERE in the state.
The fishtank, is a Dolphins bar...right on Pratt St. The steelers bar you're referring to is Ad's pizzeria in Windsor Locks(which happens to be my town). I've often considered inquiring about starting something similar to that, if other jet fans from the area would come and be interested. It is a serious travesty that there are dolphins and steelers bars..but no jets bar
If this post is factual then Woody should fire evrybody that he presently employs in the marketing dept. in Hempstead.
Well keep in mind, that if a jets bar is gonna be opened it's gonna be by a business owner who happens to be a jets fan, or at least a jets fan w/ a working relationship w/ a bar owner..Not much ny jets marketing can do about it. I've long considered opening an establishment(when im alittle more settled), but the fact that there is not more of a demand for such, makes me leary.. But make no mistake..I'd go all out
Well I would say is there is not 1 NYJ bar in CT that means the demand for it is very low like it would be in AZ or NM which means the NYJ marketing team has done a poor job marketing the team in ur state. I have no doubt that if you opened a NYJ sports bar it would be top notch.
Yea, CT is mostly Patsie and Giants country. I always get excited when I happen to meet someone how actually is a Jets fan in this state. I think I know like 4 (and one of them is my fiancee who was originally from NY)
