Were getting to Haren. Big spot here. 8-4 2nd n 3rd 1 out. We can get right back in it w/ a single. All we need is a flyball to the outfield or a groundball to the right

I'd say the fact that he's hardly OBPing .300 and slugging .400 would make for a bit of a black hole wherever he may be in the lineup. Last year was a pretty big fluke for him. Absurdly lucky .363 batting average on balls put in play was a big reason for his .342/.365/.525 line. Now that his luck has dropped back down near league average, the fact that he's an unabashed hacker up at the plate is taking it's toll.

How can you call last year a fluke year in only his 2nd year in? HOw great was JOse Reyes OBP in his 2nd year in? Cano is avery good young 2B if you think he is a bum think thats overreacting to a average first half of a season

Reyes had a .300 OBP his first full season, a .353 OBP in his second full season, and is at .400 this year. Each year he showed a marked improvement in his ability to draw walks. Cano's plate approach hasn't changed at all. He was a hacker last season and was lucky enough to find the holes. He's been a hacker this year, but the playing field has leveled, and he's struggled. I'm not saying he won't be a good player. He's got good tools. But he needs to start showing the ability to work the count.
