I hate this man. He is stealing millions of dollars from the yankees everyday. I can swallow the fact that Vick killed a couple four legged monsters much easier than Mussina getting paid for his pathetic, no balls having performances. Maybe when vivk gets out of the big house he will start a moose fighting campaign and drown non performing moose in his bath tub
But Zambrano was NEVER good as a Met...Moose actually had like 1 or 2 good seasons... Moose has just completely lost it...I'm just sick of seeing him, especially how he holds runners at 1st base...Gayest thing i've ever seen.
I'd have to say that Pavano is stealing from the Yankees more than Mussina. Yes, he may suck but at least he's pitching.
Never liked Mussina....he can't pitch for the yanks...he's a small market loser its really time to clean house and stop over paying for these losers that look good in a uniform and don't produce....makes me sick
Really? Moose sucks...Damon sucks. Pettitte is doing good, Mo is doing okay Posada is playing out of his mind...Clemens is in the final year of his contract:smile: Do I even have to go through the young players on this team? Try again.
But you can't get rid of him. Nobody wants him and our glorious GM gave him a 2 year extension. Let's hear everybody support Cashman again. He gets funnier everytime everybody says a word in here.
You DO realize that without Cashman, there's likely no Wang, Hughes, Chamberlain, Cano, or Melky on this team right? There's no Kennedy, Sanchez, or Tabata, either. If you look at the big picture, you'd see that Moose was relatively affordable (compared to what other pitchers were commanding... Ted Lilly, anyone?), a known commodity who pitched his way to a 125 ERA+ last season. And, more importantly, he was a temporary solution. A two-year contract is MORE than manageable. Moose has apparently fallen off a cliff in his past three starts. But blaming this on Cashman is ridiculous. GM's aren't supposed to bat 1.000 with every signing and every performance... they're supposed to put their team in a position to be able to recover from mistakes year in and year out. And Cashman, being fortunate enough to have the resources of the New York Yankees behind him, can make more mistakes than other GMs without really hurting the team's options. ETA: Let me ask you this... what would the better move have been in Mussina's place? Let him go and sign... who?
That is why I said now he is one, his effect on the Yanks was exactly the same thing as Zambrano and Trashel was on the Mets, garbage pitchers who killed all hope of winning just with their presence, but still had something keeping him in the rotation whether it is loyalty or rationalizing a trade. The length of time maybe different but the effect is exactly the same
yea pavano robbed the yankees blind.. but i like him better then mussina, at lesat he didnt lose games for us.. he jus took his money and shut up.. moose takes the money and then gets the L every game.. i like pavano better
Well the Yankees were the idiots who overpaid for Clemens....and he is on the team, so yea, it works. Also, I don't know how much you can trust Rivera. And Petite has been OK. Its sad that he's their best starter right now. While you can go through your young guys, you have a ton of guys on the teams (starters) who are pushing mid 30s at the least. Enjoy watching the Sox this post season.
I heard on the local Scranton news that Mike Mussina is making Moose tracks to the Scranton/WB Yankees and he should be here by the weekend...
Why, exactly, is that "sad"? And a 2.06 ERA in August is just "OK" to you? What about his 116 ERA+ for the season? Pettitte has been solid almost all year long. (He had two horrific starts at the beginning of July, and two pretty bad ones in June... but that's about it. Everything else has been solid.) No more than the Red Sox, really. (Source) (I use them as an example only because you think the Yankee fans will be watching them in the playoffs.) Red Sox total roster average age: 31.5 Yankee total roster average age: 30.5 Red Sox starting lineup average age: 30.5555 Yankee starting lineup average age: 30.4444 Red Sox rotation average age: 33.6 Yankee rotation average age: 33.2 And age might matter in a projection for next year, but at this point in the season, I don't think age is as good of a predictor of future performance for the rest of this year as the work they've already done this season. A little early for that. Even if the division is lost, the Yanks are two games back (three in the loss column) for the wild card. That is hardly insurmountable.
I don't understand why Mussina is responsible for the Yankees voluntarily handing him over millions of dollars. shouldn't this thread actually be titled 'Yankees management dumb enough to overpay for Mike Mussina'?
Ian kennedy will start on Saturday for him, hopefully he shows good stuff and we can get a solid core of young pitchers going.
