scottlandJet are you an airhead? we have all seen chad play for many years and i never see him take us any farther than the divisional playoff game.
he didnt have any 3 tds in a single game last season, so I doubt any performances he had in 2006 would constitute shredding a secondary like scissors to paper
Top 10? 17 TDs with 16 INTs.....82.6 rating wasn't too bad, but he didn't even average 7 YPA.... He helped get us to the playoffs, but he was not even above average
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics?stat=pass&sort=rat&league=nfl&season=2&year=2006 He was #12. Right *behind* JP Losman and right in front of Jake Delhomme. That's why people are not hopping up and down at the prospect of him being the Jets answer at QB. He was #11 in 2004, right behind Brett Favre and right in front of... Jake Delhomme. The last time Chad Pennington was actually a top 10 QB was in 2002. It's not the doubters who are having delusions right now, it's the people who hang on to the delusion that Chad Pennington is a top 10 QB despite 4 seasons of evidence that he's not.
I know Chad is our guy and people give him till the 4th game before Mangini would do anything (Switch -Replacment) But I truly feel if our offense goes through several 3 and out's there will be a change of quarter back in this game be it for a couple of series or the entire game.
Chad haters will be happy.. I just saw a report stating that if he has a bad game against the Pats, they are taking him out back and shooting him. This will also make the Danny Ware fans happy, if reports are true, he will be taking the roster spot.
If Chad plays great will you guys give him credit, or just say that it was because Rodney Harrison wasn't playing and lets see how he does against a real good defense next week?
Chad will play well in the opener. The jets might not win, but you'll see a different guy than what we saw in the preseason, no question.
It's the best and least biased indicator, because it measures four of the most important tangible elements in the passing game. Completion percentage, yards per attempt, TD percentage and Int percentage. The oufits, like footballoutsiders.com, that look at the drive-by-drive data and then assemble their own composite ratings for QB's have always rated Chad lower than his passing rating. Why? Because they place much more value on the single stat of TD's produced per drive, which is the area of the game where Chad is the weakest.
If you say so. I think deciding how good a QB should be ranked is a little more complicated than just sorting by QB rating and going down the list.
If you define great as 23 for 30 203 yards 1 TD and INT and we lose the game 21 to 17 I'm not going to define that as great. If we win 17 to 14 I won't define that as great either but I will extremely happy.
I don't think we'll see Clemens before the bye week, if at all. Any earlier, and Pennington would have to be playing atrociously, which is not going to happen, the guys a talented quarterback, if we all seem to forget that.
this is about him as a player throughout his entire career. and even now in the preseason. ive seen many quarterbacks get the same pressure but they also know how to move around and avoid sacks. Have you EVER REALLY WATCHED CHAD GETTING BLITZED! HE LITERALLY PUTS HIS HEAD DOWN AND GETS READY FOR THE HIT BEFORE THE GUY IS 2 YARDS AWAY! i see this all the time so please......WHAT IS ALL THE HYPE ABOUT THIS QUARTERBACK ANYWAYS.....I CANT BELIEVE THAT MOST OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD WOULD LAY DOWN AND DIE FOR THIS GUY IT SEEMS. quarterbacks get replaced and people move on. geeze and stop thinking that clemens would do soooo bad in the transtion. He was supposed to be drafted between the Cutler's and the Leinart's in that draft so I'm sure it would only take him a few games to get adjusted and take off.
