Sunday's NFL Countdown on ESPN (11AM Eastern), the following will be one of the feature stories: From espn.com: What is work like when Eric Mangini brings his family to Jets headquarters? Wendi Nix profiles the second-year head coach. Just FYI...set your clickers to ESPN to give it a watch...
thanks for the notice, should be a good watch. Assuming hes not as dry and bland as he is in his press conferences.
I love Mangini, but I'm not happy about how friendly he's been with the press lately.... If the team is a letdown this season, which is very possible, he'll be eaten alive... And he doesn't seem to have that hardass attitude he had last year, so I think if the press attacks him, it might actually hurt him as a coach... I dunno, just a hunch
I do not think he is bland, he is just an X's and O's guy when he gives press conferences. Unlike the bafoon who preceeded him.
Totally agree....I like the way he handles the press....Hated Herm with his riddles...and crying! @ press conferences!
Mangini gets a bad rap for his pressers, but he seems very humble and I think he has and excellent sense of humor. It's just that he sees the media as a tool of the enemy and treats them as such... with diplomacy and extreme care.
There have been a couple times when Ive seen or read Manginis press conferences where he actually gives some serious Xs and Os type stuff. If a coach wants to play games with injury reporting, thats cool, but its really nice when they actually can say something intelligent and insightful, something that will actually help the fans understand the game and the team a little more without showing your hand to the other NFL teams. I think Mangini is good with that sort of stuff, and while he sometimes dodges questions, at least hes usually funny when he does it.
WHAT? ESPN is actually going to give any time to The Jets? They'll probably end up cutting the segment due to time constraints.
They already explained on ESPN.com that the JETS are only receiving this story in order to have sympathy since every analyst in every market has picked New England. They also mention it only be 10 seconds. It's his family walking into the facilities, and then out. Roll credits.
Agreed, I think he explains technical aspects of the game with confidence and actually sounds as though he is in great command of his x's and o's.... and when the press continues to hound on a certain point, he will not relent and finds several different ways of not answering the ?... :rofl2:  :breakdance:
