He is a perfect fit for a 3-4 de i mean obviously he has some baggagebut i think that we have the coaching staff to keep him on track. Obviously he would have to learn the position but he has 7 more weeks to do that. lol

People don't change, situations change. Maybe in a new system with different coaches and teammates he could clean himself up and be a HUGE contributor to the team. Then playing devils advocate he could still be a complete asshole and take the team down with him. Its quite a gamble.

Somehow, I don't think New York is the right place for him to clean up.

The risk is not worth the reward... This team is building on character, which Tank Johnson has very little of...

I have been thinking about our emphasis on character lately and wonder if perhaps a few "bad" guys might make our team a little better. Not necessarily Tank or anyone in particular, but I just wonder if perhaps our team is too "good." Perhaps I am reaching a bit lol.

The Cowboys are zeroing in on Tank so don't get your hopes up. That is to say that they're the only team to show interest.

I'd be very happy if we gave Tank a chance. I don't think it'll ever happen, but he can offer this team a lot. And with his history, he could end up being a steal. Obviously he's got some character issues, but there are a lot worse people playing in the NFL than TJ.. at least he has some class.

    You're right.

His second chance began when he was released from jail for having an illegal weapons arsenal. Then he went out and and got a DWI after telling everyone he was a changed man blah blah blah.

He doesn't deserve a third chance.

Yeah it's a major gamble. Goodell has told teams that when they sign players with a proven record of problems they inherit responsibility for the player's subsequent actions.

He may help us win, but winning isn't everything.. as long as we just have a bunch of good ol guys we can lose forever! The character issue and "mangini guy" is getting too much, If we bring him in and he does some of the same stuff again hes gone, but we probably never will. We'l be the nice old Jets.

The guy ate about $5000 dollar worth of junkfood in jail, sign him immediately.

having a few rifles laying around the house is not an issue with me. Yeah, he got arrested for it, but come on. And DWI? Everyone on this forum drives DWI at least once a week. Things like bouncing a stripper's head off the stage (pacman), shooting a bouncer in the back (pacman), knifing a bar patron to death (ray lewis), cocain (LT), child rape (shamura), etc are a hell of a lot worse than anything Tank has done. It's almost like Tank got arrested and suspended from the NFL for jay walking. My god man...get his bad ass in here. Well, 7 weeks from now. Can he run a video camera?

I think we should give Tank a shot. He is a good fit for the 3-4 and although he does have Character issues sometimes you just got to take a chance.

here we go with the "tangini guy" bullshit.....bring the fucker in. perhaps realizing he has one chance to get it right he will be an angel...if he fucks up and starts shooting at people in times square then we release him. this bullshit that these "bad character" guys are going to somehow destroy the team is ridiculous. What could it hurt? could it possibly make our defense any worse? can it demotivate us? did anyone see any Jet players playing like this game meant anything? Fuck this tangini guy bullshit.....you aint winning in the NFL with 52 angels...........

We should. Tell him the first mistake he makes he is gone. He gets a one year deal, and if he performs and stays out of trouble we can extend him. Low risk, high reward. He would be a good fit in the 3-4, we need a big body who won't get dominated (D-Rob) in the run game.
