I don't care if we just got Nugent, he will never hit from 48+, so I say let's go after Vanderjagt, kickers are cheap and he is a great one.
They have their kicker of the future, and Vanderjagt melts with any pressure on him. No chance in hell.
Damn, it's like you didn't learn enough with Doug Brien. I'm willing to bet Nugent will hit a 48+ this year.
That's also a very ignorant statement, and you're smarter than this. He was able to kick from this distance in his rookie year, when he still didn't have NFL conditioning, and had to adjust to using a completely different ball. He will have no trouble with 48 yard FGs for his career. He'll probably never have that elite, Hall-esque leg, but it will be strong enough to make all the kicks within reasonable distance, with a ton of accuracy.
Man, after seeing Nugent this season, even though he improved, I still don't think he will turn into a great kicker in the league. I don't think he'll ever be one of the top 5 notable kickers in the league and with how high we drafted he he should be. Vanderjagt will be a top 5 kicker in NFL history and if we did make that move I think the rest of the league woule think its a great decision. Let the Pats replace Vinatieri with Nugent, if he's so great they'd be quick to grab him. I bet NE will go get a kicker from the CFL and he'll have a better % than Nuge this season, or at least hit more from afar and kickoff for more touchbacks......cuz lets not forget what the bad field position did to our D in 05.
HIs leg is not that weak #1...and #2 he said he was going to focus his offseason on improving leg strength...people are way too impatient...
Why don't you think he will be a great kicker? For a rookie, he was great last year. His leg strength will only improve as he hits the weights and adjusts to a TOTALLY DIFFERENT kicking ball.
Yeh , I give you credit as a fellow Canadian, the leafs logo kills me, but this does not seem like you
