You are thinking of someone else - not only have I never made a sig bet, I've never even contemplated one or said to anyone that I would consider one.

We argued about Glavine. I threw out a sig bet challenge. You didn't take it.

Like I said, I have never made a sig bet, discussed a sig bet, or even considered a sig bet - I'll take your word for it that you offered one, but you can be sure that it made absolutely no impact on me.

Note that this is what I wrote a few posts above-

Too bad you didn't go for that sig bet.

I threw out a challenge. You didn't go for it. That's all I'm saying here.

I disagree with that. There were other pitchers who could have been brought in who would have pitched in similar mediocre fashion.

Bottom line, after all the crap of the first 161 games, it came down to today's game and Glavine blew it big time.

Just a wild guess but some people are probably taking issue with the fact you're going around tooting your own horn and bringing up ancient posts about Glavine sucking the same day the Mets season ended and he pitched horribly.

Let them take issue. I don't care. Those people are probably the same ones who told me I was out of my mind for saying the Mets were wrong to bring back Glavine.

One is in the playoffs and with the Cubs, no less. The other one? I don't know. Texas? Toronto? Back home?

All this falls on the GM.... they were really thinking they had a shot at the WS with the mediocre pitching staff. We all knew in March it'd be a miracle if they made the WS. Everybody here yelled about the horrible moves Minaya made and trading away guys like Ring, Bell, Lindstrom and Bannister. We were all pissed when they resigned Mota and chose to not sign a 2nd baseman.

The blame can go on Glavine for being gutless but the bottom line is from June 1st the Phiilies finished 16 games over .500 compared to the Mets 3. The Phillies were built better and built for a long season unlike the Mets who needed a great year out of a mediocre pitching staff to win the division and it didn't happen. Talk of this collapse all you want but the Phillies were better from June 1st on.

Will you knock it off already?

There is an entire thread to beat up on Mets fans. Keep it there. Stop clogging up other threads with trolling posts.

And I'm a Yankees fan telling you this.

This does seem to be getting lost in all of the sturm und drang. The fact is that mediocre teams often go into slumps at the end of the season, but nobody notices. While it is certainly true that there is a real aspect of "collapse" here, it's actually less than people think, because this just isn't that good of a team, and hasn't been for months.

I will also never refer to someone as "gutless" - no one has the slightest idea what was going through Glavine's mind. Since he has a very good postseason record through his career, it seems very unlikely to me that he suddenly was paralyzed with fear; what seems more likely is that his pitching sucked.

Way too personal ollie............... Do you know what his wife looks like?
It's easy for Yanks to be sticking it to the Mets but that that was one awful collapse. They are a talented ball team but Randolph is falling on his sword for this.
