Cowher didn't have a losing season until year 7 so he didn't get of to a bumpy start. mangini was left w/ alot of talent, talent he used to win 10 games last year. This team still has a ton of talent and it's been 2 years since Herm and Tb were here, those excuses are over. herm w/ half the talent we have here has 2 wins right now.
Herm took over a team that was built with one of the great staffs in NFL history. Mangini took over a team with Bradway and Herms players and a QB who was two shoulder surgeries removed from greatness. This team was a mess and last year the staff did a great job covering up the pimples against a very weak schedule. A step back before another step forward shouldn't surprise people at all. Teams are adjusting to what we do and we will have to get better and adjust again. Ultimately until we have better players we will always be dancing with scheme instead of just being outright good enough to win.
You mean change to a 4-3. And I agree. And what the hell happened to Shottenheimer? We're not in the play-offs? But he's showing no creativity on offense. And what the hell happened to our giving confusing looks on D? It seems like these days the D sets up before the offense even breaks the huddle, and then doesn't move until maybe after the play is over.
Herm took over a team that had won just 1 playof game in 4 years, had 1 playoff appearance, hadn't been to the postseason in 3 years and had just choked their way out of a playoff spot the year before. Mangini took over a team 1 year removed from being a kick away from the AFC title game, a team that was bad in '05 b/c of devastating injuries. You guys always act like Parcells left us a dynasty team when the Parcell's/Groh years got us 1 PO appearance, an aging roster and a bloated salary cap.
Half the talent? Larry Johnson, Tony Gonzalez, Jared Allen, Donnie Edwards, Ty Law, Patrick Surtain, Dwayne Bowe, Derrick Johnson.. Those are some pretty good players.
You are giving me a who's who of the best players from 2000. This is 2007, Tony G is a good TE, law and Surtain are average at best, Edwards is average, LJ is a top talent, Bowe is showing signs, I like Johnson but the Chiefs are in FULL rebuilding mode right now. Every team hasa bucnh of good to really good players but we have alot more talent than KC.
That’s weird I thought last year all the gadget plays were a little college like and this year we are running plays of a more conventional style (its not working). Maybe we need to go back to the gadget plays to make 1st downs. Or a least get defenses wondering about Brad smith and Leon in the back field!
How so? have you noticed all the talent they have lost the last 2 years? replacing them w/ young players.
