A team in green and white uniforms with a suspect o-line going against the Giants defense...hmm. Anyone know how this could play out? Everyone calling for Clemens so that we can see more of the long-ball is going to be in for major disappointment in this week's game. The Giants picked up 12 sacks last Sunday with Osi collecting 6 of them. Whether or not our qb has the ability to throw the deep ball is going to be irrelevant this week because our o-line won't be able to give him the time required to complete a 5 step drop and then make his reads...at least not as long as we lack the power running game needed to keep them honest and not blitz on every down.

  2. The pass protection for the jets the last 2 games has actually been very good.

I don't think D'Brickashaw is going to have too much trouble with Osi.... Osi did not have a sack until last Sunday, so it's not as if he had been tearing the league up and that culminated with the game vs the Eagles....

Brick did well against Taylor and Shoebel, I see him holding down Osi just fine....

Clement vs Strahan, on the other hand, could be an issue..

As long as Chad is under center, I am always ready for a lot of short passes.

I'll give them us the Bills game but the Dolphins have to be the oldest defense in the league, they're average player age is 29.5 and they have only 3 players under the age of 26 (DE Matt Roth (24), MLB Channing Crowder (23) and CB Travis Daniels (25)) and Spagnuolo is a much more dynamic DC than Perry Fewell (Umenyiora, Strahan, Tuck, and Kiwanuka all on the oline at the same time!). If they run that again it's going to create a whole host of match-up problems for the us. The only way I see us getting the passing game going is by either relying on the shorter passes or leaving TE's and RB's back to help block and taking away our receiving options.

I figured that much but how much better do you think Clemens will do in this situation?

    Amen.

The Giants pass rush worries me some, but I don't simply assume we'll have no time to throw. This defense was swiss cheese for the first 2.5 games.

He could do better and he could do worse, depending on how much the Giants know about his tendencies, our gameplan and how well he adjusts versus the Ravens game. I'm not saying he'd come out poised and ready but we need to know the answer to that question sooner and sooner. I love Chad as a person and a smart player but after the multitude of checkdowns and lack of confidence Chad showed last weekend, I find it less and less of a risk to see Clemens taking snaps this season.

That was Winston Justice Umenyiora was beating up on. Brick is considerably better than him. As an aside, remember how some were whining about how we could have had Leinart and Justice in the 06 draft? Yeah, good times.

or how bout you mention how people are STILL whining that we should've taken mcneil even though he is playing absolutely terrible. Let's see, leinart got benched for kurt warnger, justice was a revolving door in the giants game, and mcneil has been terrible this season. Now who should we have taken guys!?

Yea, it wasn't that good. The few times we've looked to go deep the last couple weeks there wasn't time to do it. Easy to protect when your running a lot of short passes.

I actually see Jones having a big day. Buckhalter ran for some decent yardage, when Reid decided to run, last week. Run the ball efficiently and often and you have less to worry about. If Washington or Jones busts a blitz they go for big yards, same as Westbrook might have done---- if he could ever stay on the field.

I think we need to max protect and hope our recievers can get open vs their sub-par secondary...

That's absolutely right and while I don't expect the Gints to get a lot of sacks they may get a ton of picks. They know exactly what Pennington will do and they will be cheating those short routes all day long.

I believe in our pass protection vs this Giants defense. Some of you are in for a surprise if you think Mangini is just gonna sit and watch lightweights like Kiwanuka and Osi rattle us and get some 12 sacks.

Our OL is improving in pass protection and the past two weeks have been pretty good. Pennington will need to be mentally prepared for this, and with the right gameplan we can win this game because the Giants are hot, but still, a very iffy team IMO.

    Just my two cents, y'know.

Poor Chris Baker he has been doing that for a while (helping with max protect). The Jets are in a lot of trouble this week, the Giants with their front 4 against our o-line can just send their front 4 and have the LB's cover the short routes. Jets have to be patient or else this will get out of hand very early and KC will be in at halftime.
