I was sitting at a bar last night having a cold frosty beverage and saw on the bottom line that Abe was traded. I was so happy that his sorry ass is finally gone. I always liked Abe until the playoffs 2 years ago. He sold the "team" down the river for money. Its not about I, its about the team and he was more worried about is payday then helping his team win. I do wish we got the 15th pick but we still got a first round pick for him. I have been tired of hearing about the Abe contract problems that I am glad that piece of crap is out of here.
Hello all, i'm a new user. wanted to give my 2 cents on this Abraham deal. Abraham was and can be a great talent. he did deserve a large contract, but i can see why the FO did not hand one over to him from his injury issues over the last bunch of seasons. wish him well in ATL, and lets hope the pick we recieved can bring in some talent to fill the holes in out D line and O line. nice site here, seems to be informative.
I'm glad all the headaches he caused are behind us. The fact that we got a 1st rounder for it is great as well.
I wouldn't say that I'm "happy", but I'd say that I'm relieved that the situation has been resolved. True, Abe was very good for us, at times, but he's become a malcontent and it was clear that we had to move him. Despite his talents on the field, there's no sense keeping someone around on a new-look FO and team when they don't want to be here. We just need to replace him, if possible, with someone who holds just as much potential and will fit in better (Mario?).
Plus if I'm not mistaken we just saved a bunch of money. If I'm correct its in the amount of 8m. Plus a 29th pick yeah Im happy. Go Jets
John Abraham is a game-breaking talent, and I don't think he was locker-room poison. That said, he didn't seem to rise to the occasion in big games and his lack of size was a liability in the Jets 4-3 defensive scheme, not to mention his hunger for sacks. Sacks are nice, but the Jets were becoming a very easy team to run on, and Abraham was a big part of that. I think he has the ability to improve, and with a no-nonsense coach and DC he will do so. I think like his mentor Herm Edwards, he had reached a point where he and the Jets were not going to do any more good for each other, and it was time to part company. I think we did well with the deal we got, provided we use the draft pick well.
