leon seems to be holding down the kick return job as good as j. miller, so why is it we need him anymore? he sure cant play corner, and we have some options for special teams play. i say cut him loose.

First of all, he's on IR. Secondly, he's still a young player learning the NFL way of things, so you don't know he won';t be able to play corner.

Where is all this nonsense coming from today? Nobody is going to be cut, so just get over it. Cutting players is done during the offseason.

Sorry Tony, I agree with tbruner J. Miller is a bad cornerback and while he is a good returner, he fumbles alot as well. I say get rid of him after the years over and pick up another cb in the 3rd/4th round. Nice avatar though.

I think if J.Miller isn't ready for training camp (which is doubtful) the Jets reach an injury settlement and move on. The guy has been given multiple opportunities to contribute on defense and either gets injured or just gets abused on the field.

Unless the coaching staff is concerned about wearing out Leon on KOs and PRs and they don't want to use Revis on PRs, I really don't see how Miller keeps a roster spot.

one thing you guys are forgetting is that Miller appeared to make huge strides at CB in training camp this season...

plus he's still a kid at only 22 years old, I think he still has a lot of upside, he's fast, strong and a good hitter. He's just a raw talent that I would hate to see him blossum on another team....like so many other ex-jets

  7. Miller isnt even 23 years old yet. He is still an extremely young corner, w/ a TON of natural talent. he was having a very good TC before he got injured. I'm not sure why there is so much hatred for this guy.

Could it be another case of Jet fans hating their early draft picks?

A little thing called salary cap hit, you can't just cut players and sign new ones anytime you want. There is a lot of fat on this team but it has to be trimmed correctly, the entire OLB core for instance, Thomas and Hobson show up every 80 or so plays.

It has nothing to do with "hating" on any guy. It has a lot to do with the lack of results on the field and/or the fact he gets injured.

The same things have been said about Miller since the draft -- lots of raw talent, athletic, etc., -- but it isn't like the guy didn't have a coach until he got to the NFL. It's been painfully obvious that his football skills can't catch up to his natural ability whether it be just getting beat or getting flagged for PI.

How many years do you give a guy to develop who was considered a "first-round talent?" Not saying he is as good as Revis, but Revis has stepped in and up in his first year. It was clear the first week of his third season that Miller wasn't anything better than a dime back.

I am not sure what his signing bonus was, but as th 57th pick with only a four-year deal it probably wouldn't be that much of a hit to cut him after June 1.

Lets just cut everyone right now and fold the season, seriously, man-up. This sky is falling, my life is over shit is getting old really fast

Miller was doing well in training camp until injury and was looked to be a favourite to begin the season at CB. he is not injury prone and at 22 looks to be getting stronger, his first season was under Herm, well f. development there for a young guy because we basically had Martin as the whole team. so realistically this was his second real training camp.

How is saying that the team should cut a marginal 3rd or 4th CB and KR who has had two injuries in the last three months a "sky is falling" thing?

If Mangini's philosophy includes having versatile, multi-threat/position players, how does it makes sense to keep Miller when you have a guy who returns KOs and Punts just as well and can be a threat on offense.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Miller get removed from KO duties against the Pats after fumbling and didn't he get abused at CB in the same game?

  13. By the same token....what is the rush to get rid of a player w/ so much upside? When healthy he's a pro bowl calibur KR who could very well turn into a quality # 2 CB! And at the very worst, he's a # 4 CB! What in the world could be the rush to get rid of him???

I'm not in favor of cutting Miller, but the guy is a kick returner, not a cornerback. There are just those kinds of players that excel at a STs specialist position and suck on offense or defense. Miller has been here for going on 3 seasons as a corner and turned in one positive training camp and that's it. Mike Westhoff needs to stay out of the War Room on draft day, the motherfucker has gotten every special teams fantasy player he wanted since he got here. Santana Moss, Mike Nugent, Justin Miller. No Mike Westhoff in the War Room on Day 1.

    Nonsense every day.

I don't think they're ready to label Miller as a return specialist just yet.

It wont kill the team to let him come back for another Training Camp next year. If he cant win out a spot then cut him.

Upside is for college players and rookies. Results are for NFL players.

His results prove that he is not a quality CB. You don't draft someone in the second round (with "first round talent") and expect him to take 4+ seasons to develop which is exactly what is going to happen as next year people will say "it takes two years to come back from an ACL tear."

I'd rather have the #4 CB occupied by a first or second year player that has the chance to be a #2/#3 CB.

Not every draft pick pans out and that is fine.

(And in case you are wondering, I don't care about Schelegel, I am fine with the Nugent pick, Robertson is not a bust...and neither is B.Thomas.)

  20. We have decent depth at CB...just most of it is injured right now. Revis, Barret, Dyson, and Coleman all w/o including Miller. Why not keep him around as a KR who could very well develop into a quality CB?? It's not like he's holding the position's depth back...I just dont see the downside to keeping him.
