I think we can still make the playoffs. The AFC West is in disarray. Denver has one of the worst defensive lines in football and will collapse. KC is coached by Herm. The Raiders have a great D but not enough on offense to get to 10 wins. The AFC East is horrible. Outside of NE. We play them all once more. We can certainly win Buffalo and Miami, and besides neither of them are getting to 9 wins anyway. AFC South has two 3-1 and one 3-2 team but they all have to play Indy at least once more and play each other as well. Doubtful any of them gets to 10 wins. AFC North is Pittsburgh's division this year. Baltimore is not that good and Cleveland and Cincinatti are just not going to get there. No lock here either for a 10 win team. The AFC is loaded this year with three times that may all win 13 games or more. There are a lot of bad teams. The NFC is not as distant to the AFC at the middle and lower echelon's as years past so AFC teams won't pad as much against the NFC. I think at least one of the wildcards in the AFC this year is 9-7. We can get to 9-7. We just need to go 8-3 the rest of the way. And it is doable. Not likely perhaps, but doable. I don't think this is totally out there either. Our schedule from now on is somewhat favourable. We can do this. J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets! Sidenote: The top draft pick teams will be REALLY bad this year. No guarantee Miami wins a game. St. Loius is horrible. Buffalo is decimated. Atlanta is bad. A couple of the bottome teams could have only 1 or 2 wins.
Some positive thoughts on the board at last. I might be deluding myself but I don't think we are a bad team, as the season wears on I think we will pick up and see some form, our only concern is we have to start winning soon to have a shot at post season starting this week.
Maybe but please do tell me which 8 of these teams we are going to beat. Philadelphia Cincinnati Buffalo Washington Pittsburgh Dallas Miami Cleveland New England Tennessee Kansas City
Exactly what I am thinking. We will beat one team we shouldn't. We may also lose to one team we should beat though too. BTW, where did all the people go that said strength of schedule means nothing and we are going to win 12 games this year? Haven't heard from them in awhile.
9-7 will not cut it in the AFC not that we can get their. We need an off season to re-group. We gotta get our QB and RB situation figured out before the off-season. Is Thomas Jones a good RB and is Clemens the answer?
Games are won in the trenches we have enough talent at the skill positions to succeed. Just need a solid o-line and d-line.
Johnny, we need to go 8-3 to get to 9-7; the way this team is playing right now that is simply not going to happen. 9-7 is never a sure ticket to the playoffs; you usually need help from 1 or more teams to draw your berth. I am completely addicted to the Jets, but I really do not see them making it this year. We need a spark. Maybe that is Clemens; I don't know. We can't keep doing what we are doing because it isn't working.
We don't win another game Till our "D" stops the run.. 9-7 is possable for other teams just not the Jets..
If you want some Joy out of this season start watching college Football to see who will be available when we pick in the top five next april. We are still in the Dorsey sweepstakes!
Philadelphia Cincinnati Buffalo Washington Pittsburgh Dallas Miami Cleveland New England Tennessee Kansas City
Philadelphia*, Cincinatti, Buffalo, Washinton,Miami, Cleveland, Tennessee, Kansas City *We need to win one of Philadelphia, Dallas, Pittsburgh, and New England. Even though they have never lost after a bye I think that Philadelphia is really underachieving and may look past the lowly Jets.
I've been thinking 7-9 since the start of the season. At this point it appears that I was over reaching. I would not be looking towards a wildcard spot at this point. We have a lot of things to fix.
I agree with johnny... if the Jets start playing Clemens. I truly believe the Jets are not as bad as they have played, and the reason they have played as bad as they have is because they are stagnant. They are stagnant because the offense can't move the ball. Clemens can move the ball. If Clemens starts playing and the offense starts putting points up on the board, I think it will have a ripple effect throughout the rest of the team. I predict 9-7 if and only if Clemens is playing by the end of the Eagles game.
Again, What good is another 9-7 wildcard season if the low draft pick stands in our way of taking the next step as a franchise? This team has no business in the playoffs.
If you are a quality team, strength of schedule is NOT big deal... But for us, we need a couple gimme-games to get back on track, and our schedule doesn't permit for that
