...i DO feel this is...because all the dissapointments have been on such a conscious level( ie coaching/play calling/personel(or lack of)......rather than the incredible injury plagued start to '05.

Much lower... We were beat up, 3 QBs deep in 2005..... Now we're just a poorly coached football team, and we're playing worse than we were then

We weren't even competitive in 2005, in fact it was painful to watch in 2005 as bad as we are now we aren't at that point yet.

Not even close, in 05 we sucked cause we were injury riddled, now we just suck.

Remember the Dolphins nearly beat us, even the Browns seperated themselves from them by 2 scores today...

Some people were actually predicting the Jets going to the superbowl in '05 so I think that season was a bigger disapointment.

We were physically overmatched in 2005... We have the talent now, and it's more disgraceful because we're not being put in a position to win games by our CS... This team has the talent to be an okay team... But we're running the wrong schemes, and our coaching staff is leaving an inept QB in there to lead our team..

In 2005, We expected to stink after Chad/Fiedler went down....

This year, we thought it would be harder, because of the schedule, but nobody expected us to play as poorly as we have... We look like a bottom 3 team right now

2005 we were non-competitive in all facets of the game. We have weapons now, we have playmakers. They're just not making plays, whether the reason is the defensive scheme or the quarterback.

This has to be a lower point because injuries are not an issue. The Jets would of been better in 2005 if they had a healthy team. This team has no excuse. None.

As a whole, I think it would be ridiculous to assume that this season will be worse than 05, mostly because our HC had already gotten a job elsewhere shortly after we lost Chad and Feidler and everyone in the organization from CS down to 3rd string depth player had quit that season.

I saw the schedule before the season, and 4-12 wasn't really outlandish in my mind. I said before the season, this team will take some steps back.. they overachieved last year. This is a building process and I don't think we'll see results until 2009 and that depends a lot on the development of the quarterback.

I was more in the 7-9 mindset, mainly because of the OL and DL woes..

Well, the OL has improved dramatically, and we're looking like a 3-win max team.... I REALLY think it's 90% coaching, and 10% on the players....

Yeah definitely. Not only what you mentioned, but also the fact that these players who are under-performing were supposed to be able to do these great things this year.

The defense was supposed to have a better grasp of the 3-4, Chad was supposed to have had a full, surgery-free offseason, the O-line was supposed to have jelled and gotten better, and Thomas Jones was going to carry the load on the ground so we could use Chad's PA ability better.

This is an extreme let-down.....especially the defense, it is truly embarrassing.

Yes, because this team is mostly healthy. They are not performing as badly as that 2005 team did, but the losses hurt more because this team is better on paper. In 2005, all expectations got thrown out because it wasn't even the same team by mid-season. 3rd string QB, 3rd string RB, a shuffled O-line, you expected them to suck. I expected more from this team.

exactly. A team down to its third qb is expected to suck. This year we have no excuse.

'05 for me was worse. I had Super Bowl aspirations that year. By looking at the schedule, I'm not really surprised we've been as bad as we've been. This is a team that is rebuilding and we fooled ourselves into thinking we could compete with New England sooner than we could.

    True...

    But

    2005 Brooks Bollinger > 2007 Chad Pennington

    Sad, but true

Ha. What could Bollinger have done if Herm had not run gimpy-kneed Martin into the line twice for two yards then have him attempt a 3 yard out pass...with the instructions, "Don't throw the ball?"
