Right or wrong, let's replace Pennington this week so that the FO, the media and the fans can get on with assessing and evaluating the primary things wrong with this team: Undersized, and under-talented linemen Poor evaluation by the GM Questionable play calling and scheming by the head coach and coordinators Let's eliminate the primary distraction so we can really figure out who's got to go, who's gonna stay, and who's gotta change his ways.
Brian Schottenheimer has been horrible with calling the offensive plays... The Dline is still getting dominated at the line of scrimmage... Our Oline actually isn't that bad and just needs a RT...maybe a LG too
this team's defense is made for a 4-3 not a 3-4 i have been saying this... if we trade penny and get a draft pic or a dlineman we need a big guy who can pass rush to take robertsons place in first and third down. thomas, robertson and ellis wil flourish in a 4-3, unless we have a big ol dlineman. we need clemens to start we have nothing to lose we are already 1-5, let him learn and trade penny, i have been a penny supporter but he got me tired i cant handle it no more, the ability to not throw deep. our team would be so much better if we could throw deep when we wanted to.
Clemens has got to be given a chance at some time. Now is that time - this season is now a right off, so lets use the remainining games for something constructive and plan for the future.
So, you want the FO to evaluate the poor evaluation by the GM (who is the FO)? I am pretty sure that the coaching staff and front office know full well where the holes are on the team. They made decisions in the offseason to address RB, MLB and CB, chose to pass on average offensive linemen getting all-pro money and decided there was not a DT worth paying that was significantly better than Robertson. Jones is a very good one-cut RB who, paired with Washington's shiftiness, make for a nice backfield for the next three years. The early returns on Harris and Revis are good as well. The FO evaluation of personnel is good, however, you could certainly question their area of focus (not on the O-line/DT). On D-line, I think K.Coleman was a good acquisition, but perhaps too much money is invested in Robertson (who is average) to spend money on an above average DT for the 3-4. (I think we can all agree that there wasn't an elite 3-4 DT that they let slip away in FA/draft.) On O-line, the FO chose not to pay to play. Sure, average linemen were getting starter/all-pro money, but if that is the market, that is the market. It is clear from this off-season, that the FO is building for the future, however, they must have thought they could get by with what they had on the lines (save the Coleman acquisition). If you think about it, the team didn't lose one impact player from a 10-6 season and upgraded significantly at RB/DE/CB. Sure, they could have expected some drop-off based on the schedule, but it is doubtful they thought it would be all the way to 1-5. (And, I am sure they didn't expect a significant drop-off from the QB position.) I am not saying that the FO made all the right moves, but the moves they did make were, generally, good ones. I guess you could say that it is the moves they didn't make (assuming the players were available) that were the difference.
The D-Line is just getting pushed back 50 yards its embarrasing how they didnt figure this out in the offseason i dunno.
How is it any different than last year? What NT should the Jets have picked up / drafted? What should they have picked-up / drafted DE? Pointing out problems is easy, finding solutions always isn't.
