For the next home game the Jets should hand out Rally Towels like they have been doing in Cleveland & Colorado. It would help to get the crowd at least somewhat into the game and maybe even when our defense is on the field.

They could hand out an even amount of green and white, and for the first few home games the towel could read "NYJ 2007....What A Mess."

In all seriousness, it's worth a shot.

    Ummm, no.

The only thing the rally towels would do is serve to wipe away the tears following another loss.

Our crowd doesn't wave rally towels. Folks in other areas of the country do.

Joey the iron worker or Lou from Verizon are not going to stand up waving a 24 x 24 piece of cheap terrycloth.

After painters hat day against the Bills in the 80's, I don't know if it's a good idea to give out anything flammable.

You're right...let's leave that to those in the other parts of the country.

Our sports teams are doing just fine in the Metro area with our current "Down in front, stay quiet" home team mentality.

Grocery bags with holes for eyes may work better, that way no one will be distracted or inconvenienced.

Hey I'm not saying what's right and what's wrong- I'm just giving you my observations. I don't see the Meadowlands crowd waving rally towels, primarily due to the fact that we can barely get folks to arrive before kickoff and stay until the end of the game, even when we're ahead. Asking them to wave a towel is a little much...

They gave out cheerleader pom-pom things during the '02 playoff game and everyone seemed to wave them around. That was kind of a different situation though.

OK I agree, it may be too much for the crowd to handle. But at least I could have a towel to wipe down my car for the $1500 I spent on season tickets. One positive takeaway from the season.

The towels are gay. What's next, the wave? How bout stopping a team on 3rd down and give us something to cheer. Its not the crowd, its the team.

Towels, pom poms and hankies don't belong east of the Mississippi. Certainly not for any of the local teams in any sport.

I am totally against rally towels.

Those people look ridiculous waving those things around.

You had like 12,000 fans at every home game before the playoffs.

    Talk about support.....

I'd rather have 12,000 die-hard fans on their feet backing their team than the 50,000 "dignified" fans sitting on their hands waiting for disaster.

Oh god, remember the wave? There was nothing I hated more than watching the game while the people behind me were looking out for the wave to start.... despicable.

I gotta give the Rockies credit though, they are playing almost out of their minds right now.

I'm actually a Sox fan (born in Boston), yeah I know its weird, a Jets fan from Boston.

Wait, were none of you there last year for the New Years Eve game win-and-in game against Oakland??? They gave out towels to the crowd as you entered and everyone was waving them during the game. It definatly got the crowd pumped (besides the fact that we were a playoff team). I know I still have mine, and anytime I meet anyone who went to that game, we always talk about how we kept our towels. Although it might not be a good idea now because morale is at a major low, if we did start to turn it around, rally towels are a great idea.

Haha I'm a Sox fan too..but between the fans in Colorado & Cleveland last night...they make Fenway seem like a funeral home. Watchin that Cleveland game last night is what sparked this idea.

Our entire season is resting on the sore back of Wakefield. We need the win tonight!!

Yeah, everybody loved them during the game. On the other hand, around the third quarter, when everybody decided to abandon any thought of congragulating our team on making the play offs, all they did was through them on the ground on their way out, and they made 0 difference as far as I was concerned. On the other hand, I didn't get one, so maybe i'm just jealous:wink:

Edit: Just wanted to add i've been a Rockies fan for years (it's been posted on this site before) YEEEHAW

I have no idea why it was so dead in Fenway for game 2.

Our fans are usually pretty loud, it was ridiculous.

But yeah, I'm nervous about Wake going, as long as he can last 6. We can hand it to Okajima for two and then Paps.

As long as Gagne doesn't touch the field...
