The signing of tim dwight gets a C- if we had signed david givens it would be a B+

the trade for ramsey is also about a C If we had signed kerry Collins it goes up to a B+

Matt Chatham is a C- Lavar Arrington prob goes to a B+

    Kimo Sabe is OK

#29 for an all pro DE is a poor trade

If we sign Jon Runyan and Lavar arrington the boys did well ---else a poor season awaits us unless chad is back to 2002

anyone know the status of runyan ?????? ---its now 8:15 PM EST

I not going to past judgement to tough on what has gone on. Since the draft has yet to happen I dont think is fair to judge. We may be targeting ppl in the draft that can help us where we need it, instead of lookin towards FA. The only thing Im upset with is the fact that we could have go Harrington or McMahon and saved our 6th round pick. The only reason I can see them going for Ramsey instead is that he played with Coles before. Othere than that I would have rathered either of the 2 QB's mentioned before.

LOL, Collins an upgrade over Ramsey? I'd stick with Ramsey, someone who actually could still have a career.

#29 for an elite pash rushing DE with poor run support, injury and enthusiasm concerns, little to no team spirit, a demand for a high money long-term contract, and who was a guy we had to trade this off-season is an excellent trade.

Mangini isnt doing a bad job hes just making moves that fit his system. Hes getting relatively cheap talent who are going to be put in roles. Hes also looking for high character players who are good leaders. Now if you look at the moves we made they fit the blueprint pretty nicely.

The Dwight signing was a decent move. Givens was never on the radar, so it's a non-issue really. We don't need a ton of WRs on the team with so many other holes.

Collins over Ramsey??? I am not a Ramsey fan, but I would rather have my son throwing passes for the Jets than Collins, and he is only 7. And we did it for a sixth round pick. That's a B+ trade, if not an A-.

How is Chatham a C-? Okay, he is no A signing, but he came cheaply, so it's not a bad deal. Mangini obviously feels he can contribute. I'll withhold a grade on this one for now, but I wouldn't go as low as yours.

Arrington is not going to be a Jet. If the Jets were willing to dump Abe and Mawae for their attitudes, then Arrington hasn't got a chance here. If he doesn't want to give 110%, I don't want him here either.

Kimo was a good pickup. He will help in the transition to the 3-4. It's not like he is a backup guy we just grabbed off the scrapheap. This is a B signing.

#29 for Abe was AMAZING. The best deal we had on the table was Seattle's #31. Atlanta was dead-set on keeping their #15. The Jets didn't so much as blink in the staredown. So we got two spots better than the best offer, for a guy who was publicly being shopped, who was demanding to be traded to the place he wound up in. Our FO kicked total ass with this trade.

Runyan would be a great move. I wouldn't expect anything to happen for a few days though. He is one of the top FA names right now, and I can't see him settling before he speaks to a few teams and weighs his options. Figure there will be an announcement on him somewhere in the neighborhood of Sunday.

lets see, where do i start

-Tim Dwight is a great pickup, we need a possesion reciever due to the loss of Cherbet

-Chatam is very good for the position he will be in, not everyone we add can be starter caliber

-Id rather have Ramsey than collins, weve seen what collins can do with the best reciever in the league

-an arrington add is a B+, in my book, any team that gets him will be getting a huge defensive playmaker

    - 29 overall is a poor trade for an all pro DE, but not for an allpro DE who wont play for the jets and our only other offer was 31

There is a huge difference between overpaying for the name FA's and buying reasonably placed FA's.

Dwight on paper is a great signing. He fufills two needs a speedy reciever and a PR. Ramsey is a quality QB with great intangibles, heart, toughness and some potential all coming at a cheap price. Chatman appears be nothing mroe than depth and special teams help. Hopefully we didn't overpay. Kimo makes me wonder we sure paid a lot for a mediocre 35 year old player. 29 for a soon to be 28 year old DE with an injury history and off field issues seems like a pretty good deal. For every Peerless Price 1st round deal there are 10 bad deals with no 1st round compensation.

I have little respect for the FO or the new coach but I don't see anything wrong with the moves they made. They wisely stuck to the Bradway plan and did not overpay for FA's and got the best value they could for Abe. They are doing exactly what Bradway did the last 5 years of rebuildingthis team by not overpaying, signing reasonably priced FA's and trying to fill holes with reasonably placed players to give the team a chance to compete this year. This strategy has worked well for 5 years now and finally gotten us out of the Parcells Cap Hell. The last place I would want to see us do is start repeating the mistakes of Parcells and overspending again. If we can get Runyan and a DT we will have the most talented team we have had on paper since 2000 and thats before the draft.
