Trade down for an extra 2nd or late 1st round pick. Get either Groves, Ghoulston, or Harvey. I personally want Ghoulston. He's the physical freak out of the 3.
With a top 5 pick, I would give some serius thought to picking up a # 1 CB to play opposite Revis. If we could lock up two pro bowl corners (and Kerry Rhodes) for the next decade, we would have plenty of time to fix the OL and DL.
Trade it for more pics definately but i wouldnt mind Calius Cambell a 6'8 285 pound Defensive End from Miami.
OK The Colts, NE, and Denver (possibly the best 3 Olines in the league) are full of 2nd and 3rd rounders, and a couple 1sts (and granted a few late rounders). Look back they always draft Lineman on day one. Hmm, I wonder why that is? Championship teams focus on the lines and don't depend on walk-ons or "finding one in the supermarket." If you don't make both lines a priority you end up like Houston, Detroit, or Atantla.
That has to be the worst idea I have ever heard. Pass blocking is what Brick was drafted for, he has elite skills in that regard. The LT is there to protect the QB's blindside. The problem is his run blocking (which wouldn't be a problem if we had a decent LG). The RT requires run blocking skills. So if you move Brick to the right side you are putting him in the position that requires the skill set he is most lacking. How does that make sense?
Trade both first round picks AND a fourth rounder for a DE/NT that is incapable of stopping the run, incapable of rushing the quarterback, but somehow is excused for several consistent years of putrid football.
And your point is what? You are paying Brick as a top 4 pick to be a LT. So you want to sign ANOTHER high priced LT draft pick and move Brick to the right? So not only would we still have a huge gapping hole at RT (due to Brick's poor run blocking), but we tie up more cap space with a high priced Olineman playing out of position. Not seeing the logic...
I am not quite sure why you are attacking me? I have said nothing inflammatory to you. I just made a suggestion. My real problem is that Brick is so one dimensional. Another possiblity is moving Brick to guard. The Raiders have done it succesfully with Gallery, and I think it might work with Brick.
Brick is not bad at all and doing very well at LT actually. Also Long has been projected as a RT in the NFL (could play either, but would be better at RT). So why would you draft ANOTHER LT when Brick is already doing well there? As well as a LT who is less praised coming into the draft then D'Brickashaw was? As well as a guy who would be better suited to play RT then he would to play LT?
I think you are having a difficult time grasping the concept of an LT. They are there to protect the QB. They do not have to be an awesome run blocker to do their job well. They protect the QB's blind side. Which makes pass blocking infinitely more important than run blocking. So if his 1 dimension is the strong suit required of an LT, why on earth move him to RT? Besides Brick is the one guy on this team improving in all facets of his game and is the least of this teams problems.
Spot on Bro? I am not arguing, just looking at ways to upgrade a pretty porous line. If he is better suited as a RT, we need that too! Draft him for that position.
I wasn't arguing, but it didn't seem like you put much thought into your suggestion. If Long is better suited for RT, I am all for it. We DESPERATELY need a RT. But moving Brick is illogical. We need to get some big fat OGs not stick an undersized Brick in there.
Not exactly. Long is basically the opposite of Brick. Great run blocker, average pass blocker. He projects as an RT at the next level.
The difference between Brick and Gallery, is Gallry was a good run blocker and porous pass blocker...Brick is an outstanding pass blocker, and average run blocker. If anything, moving him to guard negates ALL of his strengths as a player. Not to mention, his careerthus far has put Gallery's to shame. They shouldnt even be mentioned in the same breath.
this is the point i was making. i believe McFadden is good enough that you can use that much cap room on the RB position for 3 years, until Jones is released or takes a pay-cut.
