The Abe proponents always seem to forget that little tidbit of info.. "Never let the facts get in the way of a good argument!"
If someone told you last year we were going to get a first rounder for Abraham after franchising him for a second time, you'd have been jumping for joy. The world has known for the past two years that we weren't re-signing Abe, and that he didn't want to be here. We still squeezed a first rounder out of it. We were lucky to get anything at all. Look at how the Niners just lost Julian Peterson for nothing. We get a first and people still complain. Same Old Jets, because some talking heads on ESPN don't like the move. Some fans really don't deserve to see the team do well.
cold pizzia is a dumb show, dont take those opinions................abe was not gunna be in NY in 2006 no matter what, he wanted out!!! so 29th overall is better than the 31st overall!!!!!!!! now we have a better chance at Mangold
AGREED. I tried searching this site for posts from last year's offseason on this issue and was having trouble. Maybe someone with a little more experience on this site can find some people's ideas of Abraham's value from 2005? 28martin, jensen, and championjets are 3 people who's opinions I'd LOVE to know. I bet there are plenty of people who never thought we'd get a first rounder, including those who NOW say we got 'HOSED.'
Nothing?! This is a very deep draft and the talent (so I've heard) only drops off around #40. Trust me, if Mangold is our starting center for the next ten years, you're going to like this pick.
my astrologer said the jets lucked out my astrologer said that abraham was injury prone.and during the beginning of the season abraham will suffer an injury.so that means that the jets came away with a first round pick in exchange for an injured abraham.
If your point was that its very possible that whoever the Jets take at 29 would not turn out to be a great or even very good player, of course that would be right. But you seem to believe no great players in the nfl have ever been picked outside 15 and thats just ridculous.
Wow, you really have no idea how the draft works, do you? We could possibly land the highest rated center in the draft with the 29th pick, and you're calling that nothing. You really have no business even disucssing the value of a draft pick if you think a late first rounder is "nothing".
BAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Man, if you aren't a troll, and you actually put any weight behind the opinions of those two schlocks, you're worse than a troll.
You. Are. Lost. I can name half a Pro Bowl roster from this year's game that wasn't selected earlier than pick #29.
Just for kicks, what's your astrologer's read on who we're taking in the draft. While I don't wish ill to JAbe, he's dead to me now.
Exactly we could have just not franchised Abraham and let him walk for nothing. I was really suprised we actually franchised Abe. Just getting a 1st out of it, is good enough. But the battle is half over. If we end up drafting a bust this trade will be dumb. We wont know that for about 4 years.
Just an outsiders perspective here, but I don't know of many who think that the Jets got the short end of this deal. Complaining about getting the 29th pick in a very deep draft for a guy who not only wanted a ridiculous contract, but also didn't want to play for NY seems ridiculous. If this were last years draft, you'd have reason to be wary about the 29th pick. This years draft is loaded and while I'm not 100% familiar with the Jets needs, I will say that there will be no shortage of quality players available when they draft at 29 as well as when they make their 2nd round choice. If the Jets play their cards right, they should come out of this draft with one potentally elite player (#4 pick) and two players who could possibly step in and start for them on opening day. You guys came out of the Abraham situation in a pretty good spot. I would think that it would be cause for optimism, not criticism.
