Agreed 100%... what do you possibly have to gain by bringing Kellen in here? He has no chance to win - only the possible chance of screwing up his confidence going forward... why should he have been put in a crap situation that Chad handed him? Why not let him get a week of practice under his belt and start with a clean slate next week???
When KC wins his first squeeker, which may be next week, all will forget about CP. Either way WE WILL GO DOWNFIELD and keep defenses honest, that is the biggest threat we have.
So, Then thats about where we are right now...... However I dont believe that. I think Mangin's problems are twofold. Brian Schottenheimer does not have enough to be an OC at this point, and Sutton has never been good. A Rookie HC should have hired far more expierienced Co-Ordinators, but that is partly on the GM. His other mistake, was allowing Chad to declare himself fit to play after the Baltimore game. A weak armed QB with an ankle Injury should be playing his way on to the field...After 2 or 3 weeks off. I keep making this point...discounting the NE loss, and the Baltimore loss...Which of the games we've lost since cannot be directly attributed to crappy QB play?
i would rather lose out the rest of the season with kellen, then win 1 or 2 games with chad. at least that way we know what we have in kellen and see what we have to do for the draft
The defense was good down the stretch last season, and the offense finally had a runningback. With Von Oelhoffen being replaced by Kenyon Coleman, an upgrade, and the additions of Revis and Harris to a defense that lost nobody, the defense was expected to be pretty good, especially now that they had a year in the 3-4 under their belt. The offense lost two starters, Kendall and Askew, and with a 2nd year under a new scheme, with your LT and center both having more experience, with a quarterback who had a full year of rehab, and with the addition of a very solid runningback to help solve the running game, which was the biggest problem with the offense. So while I do see your points, and yes, the Jets got by with a lot of smoke and mirrors last season, winning a lot of very close games. Last year, we won most of the close games. This year, we've lost all the close games. As bad as 1-7 is, we're 2 4th down conversions away from being in overtime against the Eagles and Ravens, a few yards away from having a chance to tie Buffalo, and one defensive back collision away from having great field position and a chance to tie Buffalo again. We're not as bad as 1-7, just as we weren't as good as 10-6 last season, though chances are we'll be 1-10 in 3 weeks, and then we'll see just how the team reacts.
we're pretty bad. and if kellen hasn't developed into a qb that can at least equal chad's production then i gotta put that on the coaches too for not handeling him the right way and getting him ready. if we give kellen half the season and he throws 16 picks, and only a few td's then we gotta look for a new qb in the draft, and a new head coach.
I understand where you're coming from and I'll agree with you if Mangini can rally this team and pull some consistency out of them down the stretch. The schedule at this point is very rough the rest of the way. The only team the Jets face from here on in who is not scratching for something big is the Dolphins, and even the Dolphins will be trying to win a game to avoid going winless. If Mangini can rally the Jets to 3 wins in the last 8 he probably deserves one more offseason to be the tiebreaker in the grand question of whether or not he's an NFL head coach. If he can't then realistically he's not going to do any better next year. I'd love this to be a league where coaches can fall flat on their face and then get right up and win super bowls, however history tells us that when coaches fall down they almost never get back up.
I don't know about that, Belicheck fell pretty hard in Cleveland. He came back an did well, and I bet to this day Cleveland wishes they hadn't give up on him so quick. I think more than anything the Jets as a franchise needs stability, in the way of Pittsburgh. That means letting the young CS and FO go through it's growing pains. I am willing to give him a couple more years.
Are you serious? Peyton Manning stunk the first year he started and only a few rookie QBs make a strong impression in their first season let alone being put in a meat grinder with 3 minutes to go and down by 10. Chad threw 20 times for 100 yards in 57 minutes. KC threw 67 in 3 that is all that needs to be said. I for one am tired of the check downs because Chad doesn't have the arm strength to get it between two defenders.
