03:50AM - Jets Bring In Pass Rusher For Tryout Thursday, November 22nd, 2007 by Gary Grund The New York Jets brought in defensive end/linebacker C.J. Ah You for a tryout this week in Hempstead. Ah You, 25, was drafted by the Bills in the 7th-round pick in the 2007 draft out of Oklahoma. He was cut by the Bills after not having a good camp this past summer. The Jets could look to sign him to the practice squad. .....Anyone see this guy or here of him before..... mangini is starting to have a knack for finding some unheard of talent...eg; elam.....
If we was drafted in the 7th round... Released by the Bills... And signed by the Jets... I would say he is a bust and will never be anything. I hope I'm wrong but its a 1 in a billion chance that he becomes a Superstar or even just a playmaker.
First of all, who says he has to be a superstar? If he can come in and contribute, that' all I ask. He doesn't have to be the next Champ Bailey.
lol, thats what I'm saying. I'm just sick of the Jets going out and signing other teams problems. When the Jets go after players like A.Thomas, R.Moss, W.Welker (Reminds me of W.Chrebet alot) or even this year T.Suggs who we NEED... Then get back to me...
If you are a 7th round pick, you can't be labeled as a "bust" -- the reason he was picked in the 7th round is because he is less-talented than a lot of guys.
We need to start an "Andre Wadsworth Wanna-Be" award for all the people the Jets bring in who have no chance to do anything worthwhile in the NFL. You get quality players by drafting them and signing quality free agents, not by signing other teams castoffs.
Ah You beat me to it. I don't know much about him, but he's got a kick ass name. I tried googling his name, but I didn't come with anything worth posting other than this. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2007/draft/players/644.html ^ This was a Pre-Draft article I assume.
Because really, this is a high risk maneuver and the season is going so well, and we can't possibly improve this team. Sometimes guys do well with opportunities later in their careers. It never hurts to try. All he needs to do is provide a decent pass rush on one play, and he helped the team. Teams bring in guys for tryouts all the time, especially when teams are looking for sparks on offense and defense. The season is over, time to evaluate our players and time to evaluate players we think might be able to help.
Shottenheimer, The Jets & Albert Einstein Shottenheimer is a complete bozo. He is only in the league because of nepotism. Taken on his job performance alone, he would be washing dishes or collecting garbage. He calls plays that are incredibly predictable & unsophisticated. I have seen high school football games with five times the sets & plays that this team shows each Sunday. Shottenheimer runs a Pop Warner level offense in the pro's. I felt bad for Clemens today, each series was two 2 yard runs & a five yard pass on third & 6. Hackett was a genious compared to this guy, no joking. The Jets do not have a true impact back right now, since this is the case they should try a 2 back set with plenty of play action, counters & traps. At least this would offer some hope of scoring. Right now there is none. Einstein once said that insanity is doing the same thing over & over the same way & expecting a different results, I think he had the Jets offense in mind when he made this statement. Actually, he died in 1955 & the AFL formed in 1959, so I could be wrong. This letter was brought to you by a frustrated Jets fan with 35 years of pain behind him & plenty more to come in the future, as it looked today.
lol, are you just cutting and pasting that?^^ I hear you bro, but when the talent is thin, which it REALLY is for us, everything looks bad.
Here's the problem: coaching time is also a scarce resource in the NFL. Doing many experiments, as the Jets tried to do this off-season, means that the coaching staff has less opportunity to work with and evaluate the people who are likely to help the team in the future. How much time did the Jets staff spend on Wadsworth and the wrestlers and and all the UFA's that they scarfed up right after the draft last season? Is that why they completely missed the fact that they were incompetent on the two lines and likely to fail in a big way this season? The idea that you should look at all available options if your talent is low is an admirable one, but it really should be: look at all likely successful options, not just available ones. Right now the Jets are like a broker who is scrabbling among the penny stocks trying to find that one that will appreciate rapidly in value, while he neglects his main portfolio and it quietly depreciates in the background.
