good point...but this is what my dad pointed out.

he sed that the falcons most likely asked the jets for a 3rd and 4th rounder + abe for the 15th pick. and the jets FO probably thought those picks were too valuable, and i def. respect that decision. but we dont know this for sure becuz mangini is a mini-belichek and belichek doesnt give out information, so neither does mangini.

so i guess ur right, we will have to wait and see who got the better deal.

Same Ole to me would have been KEEP ABRAHAM - No matter how he fit in with the rest of the talent and what you were trying to do (Then again the old FO had no clue what they were doing on D) Paying Abe at the TOP of the pay scale and then crying later when he didn't mesh with their system....

Those other Free agents are Hold the Fort guys and in year 1 I'm not going to judge these pick ups too much - Just like I gave Herm the benefit of the doubt on guys like Damien Robinson....

I'm not comparing the FA aquisitions as much as the Big Picture.

How easily everyone forgets that Emperor Parcells let Hugh Douglas go in the prime of his career for a 2nd and a 5th rounder. And Hugh wasn't a whiny, injury-prone, disgruntled baby like Abe was.

I hear you though who did the past regime keep on D that was as talented as Abe that didn't fit their scheme? To me they didn't have the luxury to be able to cut some of the guys who didn't fit their scheme nor did we have young, talented guys (who they didn't think fit their scheme) such as Abe they could trade.

I agree the FO did the right thing if they didn't think JAbe wasn't a fit for their scheme but even the past regime wasn't so quick to sign him long term except at their price. Plus the big picture is that Mangini is implementing his scheme just like Herm tried to do. Hopefully Mangini will have more success and at least he seems to have the potential to be a better head coach overall then Herm because he does have more football knowledge. He just has to show the overall management and motivational accumen is at the same level.

A-men. Lets see what the FO plans to do and yes, lets let them hold their first practice as a new organization before we start evaluating them as the same ole Jets and we got fleeced and the sky is falling and.........

Revisionist history at best. I liked Douglas as a player but he wasn't close to the pass rusher Abe is and didn't have multiple teams bidding to get him.

You guys kill me how you'll piss and moan about not signing a 32 year old Right Tackle yet give the Jets a complete pass after they get bamboozled by the Falcons.

Actually, the only ones that are pissing and moaning about it are the people who are always putting the Jets down with the SOJ BS...

How did we get hosed? We were going to accept the Seahawks 1st pick for Abe. But we ended up with a slightly better pick in the 3 way deal.:drunk:

OF course the Broncos got tthe better of the deal, they didnt have a probowler to trade, they trade their 29th pick, a 3rd round pick and a 4th next year to move 14 spots to number 15, of course they got the best of this deal. Now they can be in the mix for a WR or RB which is what they are looking for. I dont see how the Broncos do not make out best in this deal.

OF COURSE THE 29TH IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE 31St, but thats us kidding ourselves that we did all we could.Should we have even settled for the 31 st in the first place or insisted on the 15th? I do not know, but if we look at it from the point of view that 29 is better than 31 then of course we did not get hosed.
