It's nice to win and winning breeds confidence and expectation, there are some positive things to take out of our team right now, (you listed them). We're pretty much at the crossroads for next year- we need re-tooling in some crucial areas (O'line and run D) I think we can either go on to greater things or implode. To be honest I can't make up my mind if Mangini has the knowledge to get it done or not. Your point about the Jets showing some fire because they were "dist" is a mute point but they better bring the same fire to the Razor in a couple of weeks or my mind will be made up about Mangini.
Destroyed by Dallas? Overwhelmed an 0-12? Sorry, don't get my blessing yet. Let's see what they do with a talented, playoff hungry Browns team this weekend.... ....and against the best team in the universe.
I expected a down year this year as we won games with shoots and mirrors last year. It was largely due to an easy schedule. If we concentrate on both sides of the ball in the draft and free agency we should have a good core for years to come. Harris, Revis, Leon, Dbrick and hopefully Clemmens seem to be a good foundation. The only thing that troubles me is Schottenheimer. I really think he is far to conservative as a playcaller. Even last year when we were doing well it was all short passes. He rarely challenges teams deep which is something the good teams in this league (NE, GB, Dallas, and Indy) all do. You have to stretch the field as it opens up running lanes and short passes. I thought it was just Chad but it has been the same thing w/Kellen. He's got to show more guts.
Dude, there are alot of sub500 teams in alot better shape than the Jets. Comeon you can name them too.
True.. Oakland is not one of them though, even though I like Russell more than Clemens Many injury-riddled teams (CAR, HOU) and talented, yet underachieving teams (CHI, PHI, BAL, CIN) would be easier to get back on track than the Jets
Without a Doubt they are- Raiders. I don't think I have to discuss who has more on defense. Offense. Raiders have been one of the better running teams all year. (Right there half the battle) The Raiders have some very nice pieces already on offense. RBs(J Fargas, M Bush, Rhodes) FBs(Justin Griffith and Oren Oneal- makes defenders cry with his blocking ability) Two Tes Zach miller- been everything he was advertised to be. and John Madsen. Two very physical wrs. (Porter and Curry) Raiders passing games hasn't been as effective this season due to Qb position. The QBs have played better the last couple weeks, and it has made the offense alot more dangerous. Jamarcus Russell only going to make the offense better. All the Raiders need is a speed WR and a little more help on the OLine. (- a LT to eventually replace B sims) Put in russell at QB and they are good to go. ON defense a Dt and a SS(might be on the roster already) Oakland will be very enticing place for offense FA's. Lets see they have a running game. A Big time QB and Young coach that knows what hes doing. Maybe Betrand Berry comes home.
Jeaux, do us all a favor and never set foot in the NYJ forum ever again. Its impossible for you to talk Jets football without bringing up the Raiders. The NFL forum is all yours if you want...
I'll agree on this one also. What we saw on Sunday is that the Jets can put a licking on a team that is well below their caliber by using the same misdirection/trick play focus they used to achieve wins like that last year. The difference between the two seasons is that this year only Miami is clearly below the Jet's caliber.
If you look I didn't bring up the Raiders, a Jet fan did. All i was doing was responding to his position.
