Hope that McFadden slips to the 6 so we can TRADE the pick for real value. Take Frank Okam for the NT spot with the best pick we get back and grab some quality depth with the rest.

It'll make up for our brainfarts this year in the draft.

Are we back to this fallacy that a higher draft pick means a better player? Guys like Mcfadden more often than not are a mirage. Mike Vick, Reggie Bush, the list goes on of guys that were supposedly can't miss, once-in-a-lifetime-sure-to-turnaroundthefranchise-talent. Great teams are built on depth and signing guys to good value contracts. If anything this helps the Jets because it means they will have to pay less for a player that has just as good a chance as McFadden as turning around the franchise.

The way I count it we draft either 5th or 6th (tie with Atlanta. I see OAK going 3rd, KC going 4th and us and Atlanta tied for 5th. Our opponents have 132 wins. So does ATL. KCs opponents have 131 wins, and OAK opponents have 130 wins).

    So if we win the coin flip, we draft 5th in rounds 1, 3, 5 and 7, and 6th in 2, 4, 6. If we lose, we draft 6th in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 5th in 2, 4, 6.

Okam would be a great NT. Most project him as a late first rounder at best though and I have even seen some have him listed as third round talent. He definitely has the size we need.

actually based on the "value chart" it is nearly impossible to trade out of the top 5. Now we are out of the top 5 and thus it became immensly easier to trade down now.

We are 6th and there will be plenty of talent there for us to choose from. We have no lack of needs so we will be able to fill one with that pick.

He's 18th to 24th pick value going into the combine. Where he'll come out is unclear but if he projects downwards it will be physical attributes and if he projects up it will be drive.

Maybe we could package our 2nd rounder and move up into the late first round and grab him.

Ok we need to realize something.....

    1. Darren McFadden and Vernon Gholston are JUNIORS. They havent even confirmed that they are coming out in this draft, for all we know the guys could stay a year in college. Highly unlikely but who the heck knows.

    2. We pay less money because of this pick, so financially we have the ability to do more in FA. Whether this happens or not, I dont know but the 6th pick last year

    3. The 6th overall pick off the top of my head has produced some decent enough players at that spot and Landry(Last years signing) signed early that year so we may not have a Revis esque situation.

Okam is known to take plays off, so hes not someone Mangini will highly look at unless Okam has a change of heart in combine.

That's a possibility, but our depth sucks and trading up is bad.

ALL NT's take a play off now and then. That's what happens when you weigh 350 lbs and have two guys on you weighing 625 lbs on every play.

The rap on Ted Washington was that he'd get torpid in the 4th quarter. Then he started pacing himself and became dominant.

Dorsey is too small to play NT in the 3-4 and he will be gone when we pick anyway.

I don't get the McFadden fascination, I guess because of what Adrian Peterson did this year everyone's looking for the next impact RB but you don't need a top five RB to win championships.

And fwiw admittedly, I haven't been Thomas Jones' biggest fan this year but getting 1100 yards behind this crap line isn't a half-bad season. With Leon also getting his share of touches, RB is about the LAST position we need on offense anyway excluding the question mark that still exists at QB.

You never know........McFadden could take a dump in some girls closet before the draft and we could land in shit.
