Anyone know how many years he has left?

When Dinger' came and left, it was all over. McCareins can't be on this team next season.

im not sure, but i read erlier we were 28 million under the cap, so w/the release of mcariens, we could make a splash in the free agent market

He is signed through the 2010 season.

He is due a $2.5 million roster bonus in March.

Total value - $9,359,800 over the next three years.

Somehow, McCareins survived being cut last off-season. With that monster bonus coming to him, there's no way it's happening again.

    He's long gone

There's no way he's going to be around to get that bonus

First of all he doesn't deserve the bonus at all......
If he made the catch from Clemens in the Ravens game among other critical throws he missed during the year I would feel differently.

McCareins is not a WR that makes a QB look good. Factor in him not agressively going after the ball along with the drops and he is extremely overpaid and not really worth a whole lot on the open market.

This guy has basically been a bust from day one.

I can't believe some moron signed this guy through 2010.

This bum must go to church every morning to thank God for bringing that idiot Bradway into his life.

8/31/2007: Renegotiated 2004's seven-year, $31 million contract. The deal included a $7 million signing bonus.
    2007: $2,100,000 (down from $2,914,600)
2008: $1,100,000 (down from $3,087,200 + $2.5 million roster bonus due in March)
    2009: $3,259,800
    2010: $2,500,000
    2011: Free Agent

Does anyone know what day in March that roster bonus is due?
If I were the GM, I'd cut him the night before w/a fax at like 11pm.

I just got it. Here are the details of his contract. The following is going to be faxed to him on Jet letterhead:

    Dear Justin:

    G.T.F.O.!

    Yours Truly,

He should have found his stuff packed for him when he got back to the locker room after the Chiefs game. They can't cut this guy fast enough. Great athlete, TERRIBLE football player.

The guy is one of the most baffling players the Jets have ever had. I just don't get him. He has the tools to be a very solid #2 WR in this league, yet he plays in a way that I can't rationalize. First up, as a person that's played the sport for the better part of his life, HOW has he gotten this far when he can't catch. Seriously, this should be the one thing that's a given. Some guys are just not blessed with speed, size or toughness but somehow they find their way in this league and have very respectable careers because they CATCH THE BALL. JMac is easily the most frustrating player for me the Jets have ever had, going back to 1979. What he cost us only makes it worse.

Cut him immediately, if not sooner...

That's about the size of it. The essence of his contract with the Jets is that he doesn't have one any more.

Does that mean no bonus? If it's just a 1 million base salary I would give him one more year, if we still have to pay that bonus, then cut him.

What kind of moron signs a WR for 7 years?

Anyone who blames the state of the team on Tanny or Mangini is fooling themselves

Boobway loved long term deals and always got burned by them. He signed Chrebet to a 7 year deal at age 30 and Martin to an EIGHT year deal at age 30. Under Boobway's original deal with Martin he would be collecting $ til the end of 09!

He's actually looked really good on special teams. Wonder if he will stay for the same cash Wallace Wright is getting . . .
