Saw this kid last night & was very impressed. Good size 6' 4" 316lbs. Moved real well. Looks like a great DT in a 4-3. Can he play NT in a 3-4? I know the positions are entirely different, but people have been talking about Okam from Texas playing NT when he's been playing the 4-3 DT. He's a junior so he could very well declare.
Sims came out a few weeks ago and said he was staying, would have been one of the top 4 or so DTs available probably.
Don't worry about it man, he's a beast. Had he been in this class I can almost guarantee he'd have been in about 10 avatars by the time the draft came around.
Pat Sims has a lot of potential, i think he'd make a monster 3-4 DE. He reminds me of Albert Haynesworht, always in the back field causing trouble. Great prospect, hopefully we have a chance at him next year he'll probably go middle 1st.
Good call on that man. I saw it in the paper yesterday morning, and this post was the first thing I thought of.
I haven't seen him play as far as I can recall. His measurables scream 3-4 end. Who knows, though: He could put on weight his first year or two in the league, but by that same merit he could lose some.
He seems like the perfect guy for the Seymour role in our D, I can imagine he will be pretty high on the Jets draft board.
No BS ----- I was thinking pretty much the same thing --- modeling the front 7 of our D after the Patriots. But then again thats what I thought when we got Kenyon Coleman (based on physical appearance only) - 6'5" 295lbs. But then I realized that K. Coleman plays a lot smaller than what he measures to.
