If hes there at 29 the jets have to draft him. He fits the 3-4 perfectly and one of the best linebacker pass-rushers in the draft. He also is solid in coverage. Of course if white or williams drops we have to get them just for value aspect of it.
In my mock draft I have the Jets taking Mangold at 29 but if Mangold were to be taen I would love Carpenter. He has a motor and is a ball hawk from sideline to sideline
The man love for Mangold never ends....maybe it's his name. I doubt our front office would even consider taking a center in the first round.
Bobby Carpenter is nice. He never got that much shine because of AJ Hawk. I would love to pick up either of them. A Vilma/Hawk or Vilma/Carpenter combo would be leathal.
watch us take Hawk at 4 then Carpenter at 29, hah the board would become a warzone and never recover...
So lets just imagine this for a second. 3-4 Carpenter-Vilma-Hawk-Barton/Hobson Oelhoffen-Robertson-Ellis 4-3 Carpenter-Vilma-Hawk Thomas-Oelhoffen-Robertson-Ellis I can deal with that...
how weird would this be: #4: AJ Hawk #29: Nick Mangold #35: Bobby Carpenter if you didnt notice, they are all from OHIO STATE
He ran a 4.66 and 4.68 at OSU's pro day at only "90%" (what team trainer's said his recovery was). That's huge for him coming back from that broken leg, to be near full strength so soon really helped his draft status.
that would be sick as far as i'm concerned...imagine a lb group of vilma hawk carpenter and barton all on the field at the same time....not to mention von olhoffen and ellis at de in the 3-4....i think robertson can handle the nt too teams would NOT run the ball on us at all...our front 7 would be ridiculous, instead of carpenter, though, manny lawson would be great because of his elite pass rushing abilities
I'd rather Mangold at #29 and the following Name: Mark Anderson Name: Mark Anderson School: Alabama Class: 2006 Height: 6'4" Weight: 254 Speed: 4.60 (Combine) Position: DE Scouting Report: Mark Anderson is a light defensive end with a quick first step and the ability to get to the QB. He can get off blocks and get to the ball-carrier in run support, as evidenced by his 11 tackles for loss in 2004 and 14 in 2005. He has some very nice athletic moves that help him get around the offensive tackle, although he generally tries to use his speed to beat the tackle wide. If he has a little space, he can use a quick stutter step to get the lineman leaning the wrong direction before running past him. Anderson is another one of those productive college defensive ends who is a bit undersized heading into the NFL. Anderson does need to get stronger as he can be driven out of the play by the offensive lineman if the lineman can get hold of him. The good news is that Anderson has the frame to support another 15-20 pounds of bulk. A solid senior season on a defense that received a lot of national attention in addition to a good Senior Bowl showing will allow Anderson to go somewhere in the third or fourth round of the 2006 NFL Draft.
