We've got a season under the belt now , and some are still playing , but out of the round 1 CBs , who the most upside?
Did Ross or Hall impress you and would you have wanted them instead of Revis?

Is it Revis-Jets , Aaron Ross - New York Giants or Leon Hall-Cincinnati Bengals ?

    Darrelle Revis TCKL-87... SCK-0.0... FF-1... INT-3

    Aaron Ross TCKL-42... SCK-1.5... FF-0... INT-3

    Leon Hall TCKL-68... SCK-0.0... FF-1... INT-5

    revis was best

its great to have a cornerback who can really tackle

he didn't have any sacks (not a huge concern for a cornerback) but we saw a few times when they ran the cornerback blitz that his speed could put serious pressure on the quarteback

and dont forget about block passes- i'd guarentee revis had more then the others

I think so and this is HUUUUUGGGGEEE....

To find your #1 starting CB...

Between this and Harris I think fans get clouded by a down season and fail to realize just how huge it is to hit homeruns on those two draft picks....

I wanted OL OL OL..... And as it turns out we NEEDED OL...

But, these guys are SOOOO good, for me at least last season wasn't even that bad, it's, not like they were SB ready so now we reload with two great players.

Revis and Ross both had very good rookie seasons.

Exactly...however Revis has been more impressive too me also more physical. Wait till we get a pass rush his INT's will go up.

I think Revis showed us that he has everything you need in a no.1 corner. I'm definitely happy we got him and going forward he will be one of the stalwarts of our defense.

Revis was the best one to get. He should have the best career. Ross is more of a zone CB. Revis can play and excel at Man-to-man and zone.

I feel the same too . I started this thread because there have been posters saying that we shouldn't have traded up , for varying reasons , but I'm more than happy with Revis and think the move up to #14 was an inspired one.

Didn't you notice teams later in the year threw away from Revis? Besides the Browns game, Revis exceeded my expectations for a rookie.

Where's all the "Aw man Revis just wasted his rookie season because the FO didn't give him 5 years."

    So much for that.

You can not just go by numbers with CB's. How many times did they get beat? How were they used? What about the D-line in front of them?

Revis- By the end of the year rarely got beat and the opponents QB's largely stayed away from him as there were paths to lesser resistance in the Jets secondary. Anyway he covered TO and Moss very good with a weak pass rush in front of him. Revis can be used in run situations like a safety as he is very versatile and stout. He also happens to be 3 years younger than Ross.

Ross- Was more of a nickel corner the middle of the season and starter after the Giants secondary got decimated. He jumped out to a lead as far as int.'s go however Revis eventually tied him. Ross gets beat more than Revis, even with a vaunted pass rush in front of him. Not as stout in rushing situations but has a sack or 2 and generally has improved as the season progressed. He is going to be a good corner in the league.

Hall- He is more of a risk or reward guy. He gets beat more than Ross or Revis combined however he just about had the same # of interceptions as both as well. But the complaints are he does get beat way too much. However he is playing on a terrible defense so that may have something to do with it. Admittedly, I have not seen him play nearly as much as Revis or Ross.

    So far Revis>Ross>Hall.

Revis has the most potential to be a top 3 corner in the league even without a great pass rush, while Ross and Hall are going to be very good. IMO

Passes defended is another important stat for CB's. Ross didn't crack the top 33 according to ESPN. Revis is tied for 5th with McKenzie right below Asante Samuel and A. Cromartie. Leon Hall is tied for 33.

Puck is right though, stats definitely don't tell the whole story, especially with CB's.

No doubt about it. Darrelle Revis was flat out the best rookie corner in football this past season. Great Tackler and you remember that interception against the patiots ? omg that was one of the sickest catches ive seen period. Leon Hall was very good too but revis wins this one.

Revis is arguably the best, (I'm sure Giants and Bengals fans would argue differently) but they are all very good prospects and deserved their spots in the draft. I don't think we would have been disappointed had we drafted any of them.

I would be nervous using tackles as the criteria to judge by however because that could indicate involvement in the run game or tendency to get beat and thus the need to tackle a player or several other independent scenarios.

I love the physicality Revis brings to the table. He can tackle one-on-one in the open field and in this era of sloppy tackling, that's priceless.

I am VERY happy with this draft pick (and with Harris too, for that matter).

The big thing about Revis' defensed passes is that a lot of them were dropped picks. The kid doesn't have the best hands (hence the old joke that if you can't catch you play corner) but that is the only possible knock on him. He's a great tackler, supports the run game, rarely gets beaten even by the best opposing wide receivers, is excellent at positioning himself for the ball and jumps routes extremely well (and doesn't do it that often as evidenced by him not getting beaten).

This kid is amazing. So to answer the topic's question, without a doubt yes.

Yep, after the Browns game I really can't remember Revis giving up any plays. Braylon Edwards had a nice day in that game but after that teams hardly threw to his side.
