I may be wrong but from my prespective, of all the NY rivals, which would be Mets Vs Yankees, Rangers Vs Islanders, Knicks Vs Nets, it's a known fact they all hate each others organizations with a passion, especially Mets Vs Yankees, but it seems the Jets Vs Giants is like a good ole boy, your my best friend kind of relationship? They never trash each other, the players go on tv shows and hangout together, it just seems any tention between the two teams is between the fans, not the teams themselves, I mean did you see the Mets put an add in the paper sending their love to the Yankees when they won their titles? That was a class act move by the Jets but still. Is it because they share a stadium? And are not really cross town rivals? I don't know, I'd like to see a little heat between the two, it could also be they only play each other when it counts once every 4 years where as the baseball, hockey and Baseketball teams play when it counts a few times a year and share a division?

Whenever we play them when "it counts," things heat up pretty well. I told my wife the other day, I may not ever get to see it in this lifetime, but I'd love to see a Subway Series Superbowl. Now THAT would be somthing that would create some heat.

    um

Ummm I for one hate the Jets, obviously this is a Jets board and I will keep it respectful but talk of love between the Giants and Jets is absolute nonsense....other then the Giants accepting the Jets $600 million and Woody giving John Mara a congrats call there is no love lost between the Giants and the Jets.......In my opinion this SB was the one time where maybe a Jet fan would root for the Giants out of Patriot hate but let's be real, no die hard Giants fan or die hard Jets fan would root for the other under normal circumstances.....maybe some of you will roll your eyes but out of the 10 Jets fans I am friends with all of them are in misery.

No real strong feelings one way or the other. I've always felt the Giants were quite a bit more boring to watch, but obviously, they are the more successful franchise by far. Anyway, I always thought it was nice of them to let the Jets play in their stadium.

I've been a diehard Jets fan all my life but find myself rooting for the Giants fairly often. Examples would be when they play our AFC East rivals, the Pats, Bills or Dolphins. I've rooted for them at other times too, when we're trying to get into the playoffs and need the Broncos or Chiefs or somebody else eliminated.

I'm sure you find yourself rooting for the Jets if we're playing the Eagles, Cowboys or Redskins too. But yeah, for me to sit and otherwise root for the Giants... ha... it ain't gonna happen.

    yea

Hey obviously they only play each other in the regular season once every 4 years but I have lots of memories including Al Toon knocking us out the last day of the regular season in 1988....the seats getting burned in the upper deck against Buffalo....the whole Parcells thing ect ect ect.....I think there is a rivalry and it sucks we both wont get our own stadium

I think it was Italian Seafood that said the other day that when he's in the stands, the thought of whose stadium it is really never enters his mind. I feel the same way and it doesn't even matter if I'm sitting in my living room watching the game.

But seriously, sharing the stadium is not a major concern to most season ticketholders. I could give a shit less who sits in my seat the following week. When I'm at a Jets game, that's MY stadium and MY team and all MY fans I'm surrounded with and nobody I know really ever thinks about it.

The other thing is, for me as a season ticketholder, if sharing the stadium with you keeps my ticket prices down and diminishes the possibility of being charged a PSL, I could (again) care less. If the Giants and Jets can have a great, state-of-the art stadium and split the costs in order to keep prices down, I'm all for that. My freakin' Mezzanine seats have been going throught the freakin' roof.

Speaking of roof, send a letter to your hoity-toity owner and tell him to anty up for a retractable roof. Make sure you let him know that, despite what he imagines in his cocktail-party, ridiculously-stoic world of "home field advantage" with an open-air stadium, it just isn't happening. If he'd leave his f*cking private, climate controlled executive box once in a while he'd know that most games are played in 30-50 degree weather in the winter. This isn't Green Bay or Buffalo, so tell him to quit being delusional when it comes to an "advantage" and start giving the f*cking season ticketholders that he so unmercifully rips off every May a little f*cking comfort for a change.

1st- The Mets and Yankees? NO. The Yankees don't think about the Mets. It's the Mets fans who obsess about the Yankees and call the radio shows to talk about Yankee stuff which makes it seem so.

2nd- If you look from the 80's on there were serious games played by the Jets & Giants where the "Kings of NY" title was on the line. The problem is, you play against your room mate and cross paths with said players more often than others @ events and such.

The Bottom line is that it's the state of sports right now where your enemy may be your teammate soon and to hate a player that can hurt you? There's more to lose in terms of financial and livelihood.
Back in the day they didn't make enough money so they beat the crap out of each other, now no one want's to take that chance.
Now don't get me wrong, this isn't for all players but IMO it's a predominant state of mind.

i like the fire section 227. I would love the new stadium to have a retractable roof. I doubt its gonna happen tho. If we did have one we would be a lock for a super bowl in the next few years....

The first football game I ever went to was a Giants game at Yankee stadium. My best friends father worked for CBS. It was the coldest I have ever been in my life and I remeber sitting behind a steel post that felt like it was 20 below Zero, cold, cloudy and grey. The Giants were terrible that year I think 1 and 12 and they played an absolutely boring style of football.

I actually became a Jets fan because I saw them on TV I think about a week later playing in SD. Namath was throwing the ball all over the place and people were in the stands in tee shirts having a good time. I'm not even sure we won. I was a kid and just the fact that the sun was shining made an impact on me. The Jets had something and the Giants didn't, I'm sure this SB win for the Giants will create a generation of new Giants fans.

I never really hated the Giants until after the 67 SB when they started calling the AFL a Mickey Mouse league. I got over that about 10 years later. I always root for the Giants and would love to see an all NY SB of course if that ever happened Jets all the way. I really don't even see a rivalry between these two teams and I thought the Giants did us a solid getting us out of Shea a true pit of a football stadium.

I did in fact forget about that, but even still, overall I just don't see much heat between these two teams these days, it was much more heated in the 80's I agree. I'd bet my first born that had the Jets moved to the Westside things would have got ugly, from everyone I talked to the Giants were 100% against the Jets moving to Manhatten, they knew how much more support the Jets would have got being the only team to play in NYC, while they were still out in the swamp. Personally, if the Fins, Pats or Bills have a lousy record and a win for them doesn't really affect the Jets, I'd root them on over the Giants. One more thing, the Giants totally ripped off the Jets idea with going old school on the uni's, the Jets did it in 98 and the next year, here come the Giants with the old school uni, which looks like shit if you ask me, I think the Giants 80's and 90's uni was nicer.

    um

Oh please the last thing the always have been more popular Giants feared was the Jets moving to Manhattan....the waiting list would still be 50 years and they would still be the most popular team.

As for the ROOF are you on drugs? You want our northeast teams playing an NFC Championship or AFC Championship game in January INDOORS? What do you think we are the Colts? Who cares about getting a Super Bowl is that really that important to you seeing that you probably wouldnt get a ticket anyway? If you want "comfort" stay home in your living room with your dog next to the fire.....no real football fans want a pansy retractable roof that would be league mandated closed on under 40degree days.

Oh and another thing.....Its Not Happeneing now or ever

That was in the 2005 offseason, I recall Eric Barton yelled during one of the scuffles, "Make the playoffs!!!" He went on to suffer a season ending injury that year...

And we went on to have an 18-30 regular season record over the next three years with one playoff appearance, while they compiled a 29-19 regular season record in the same period, with 3 playoff appearances and a Super Bowl Championship....

It seemed like we were being badasses at the time, but it turned to be a minor 'turning point' for both teams (obviously an insignificant one compared to other events that may have led to the fortunes/misfortunes of each team)...

They had gone 4-12 and 6-10 the previous two seasons; we were one of two missed kicks away from an AFCC game appearance the season before.... My, how things change

I was sitting in the stands freezing my ass off when you were still in diapers, so don't lecture me on what a "real" football fan is. I can tell you're not a season ticketholder because you'd know that sitting in the stands, you could give a shit less what the name on the building says at kickoff.

Go back to Nordstrom's and return your silly little blue and red cardigan now that the SB is over. We all know you're a troll who recently jumped on the bandwagon, just like Chuck Schumer, for example, who's never been seen at a Giants game in his entire political career, yet announces at the podium that he's "always been" a Giants fan to score political points.

It's almost cocktail time. Run along now and don't forget the olives. Your fellow "die-hard" fans are eager to talk he-man Giants shit while not knowing diddly about the game in the first place because they never watch football, yet have mysteriously appeared in red and blue since SB Sunday. Your panty-waisted, goofy, champagne-sipping, sniveling little pile of parrot-droppings fellow Giants fans have a seat waiting for you at Happy Hour.

    HAHAHA

Im 29 years old and have been a season ticket holder (My Dad is the account holder) for 22 years in Section 111 Row 32.

Don't be angry that there are a bunch of front running Giant fans these day, I hate them as well and they are a disgrace, but do not question my loyalty as I have been in that building for 20+ years and always took pride in the fact that it was GIANTS STADIUM

Again NO REAL FOOTBALL FAN wanted a nice cozy roof to cover the rain and snowflakes that make NY FOOTBALL special.......Maybe you Jet fans are different but no Giants fans I know want a pansy ass roof over the Stadium and it doesnt matter cause its not happening!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Giants accepting the Jets $600 Million? Please, the stadium is 50-50 right down the middle and it was the Giants that wanted the Jets, not the other way around, the Giants were going to renovate Giants Stadium and make the Jets sign another lease until Woody got the team and put the wheels in motion for the Jets own stadium in NY, thats when this new meadowlands stadium came about and the Giants came to the Jets to keep them in Jersey. You make it out like this is a new Giants stadium and the Jets are paying the Giants to play there, this new stadium is as much the Jets stadium as it is the Giants so enjoy your last few years as landlord in that rundown soup bowl you call Giants Stadium. I would have rathered deal with run down Shea all these years, least the Mets let us put our team name up on the stadium.

The Giants already had a new stadium model and were ready to do the whole thing on their own and then your big dreams in Manhattan fell through and you guys came crawling back and the Giants of course accepted.....the only reason its over a billion is the stupid outerspace shell that moron Jay Cross insisted on.......our practice facility will still be on site in the parking lot and it will still be our Stadium in theory, if it wasnt for Wellington Mara that spot the Stadium will sit on wouldnt even be there......YES the Giants are glad to have the Jets footing half the bill and yes you will now get your cute green colors on Jet home games but cmon......
