http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...-02-24_agent_jets_pushed_for_zach_thomas.html Agent: Jets pushed for Zach Thomas NEWS WIRE SERVICES Sunday, February 24th 2008, 4:00 AM INDIANAPOLIS - The Jets were in hot pursuit of Zach Thomas, according to his agent, before the former Dolphins linebacker agreed to terms on a deal with the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. Thomas' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said the Jets called about the 12-year veteran as soon as he was cut by Miami and they stayed in the hunt right until the end. "They called several times," Rosenhaus said at the NFL Scouting Combine. "In fact, it aggravated me reading the papers in New York when all the reports said the Jets weren't interested. I got calls from a number of people in the Jets' organization. They wanted Zach. So all the sources in New York were way off base. They can check my phone records. I don't make things up." The Jets could still be in the market for a linebacker since, as the Daily News reported last week, they have given Jonathan Vilma permission to seek a trade. However, the Jets were never serious players for Thomas, according to a person with knowledge of their interest.
Because your an agent Hallelujah! Thank god we didn't get Thomas , all we need is an aging dwarf with headaches to bump cars in the carpool.
How did the Cowboys sign him if free agency didn't start yet? And also, why would we want him? He's the same size as Vilma and 10 years older.
Players who have been cut can be signed whenever they clear waivers on their existing contract. The date of the start of free agency is the date that all previous year contracts are ended.
'were' is past tense, so actually saying 'the jets were in hot pursuit' is an ok thread title. i only posted it to show what our FO is up to behind the sceens.
If this is true then I am getting a little scared abiut future decisions that the front office would make . Zack WAS good at one point , but now he's another one cuncussion and done player!
That's what we need, Another high priced player a hit away from wearing a bib! I think Tangini is still under the impression that we are a player away from Contention for some insane reason. 2008 looks bad for us fans already.
