I think the people better take notice of the Cleveland Browns. They are the winners so far in this years FA signings. With the Pats losing a lot of there good players IMO with all there signings the Browns maybe the team to watch this season.
This happens every year though, some team does great in free agency and people assume they'll be the 2nd coming. Heck just look at the 49ers a year ago, everyone thought they would be great
Yeah I'm not convinced in the Browns. First of all I'm not convinced that Anderson can ever duplicate the year he had last year. I hate the trade for Corey Williams, giving up a 2nd for a guy with one decent year is bad business. Look at the rest of the more proven DLineman going for 3 & 5s. Finally they are completely sitting out the first day of the draft..
And look at the Patriots last year. They were great, added some more greatness and became...well you know the rest
The Eagles have made some great moves too. I guess teams took notice last year when the Pats loaded up their roster.
The oldest person they got is 28 so it's not really a big deal they will be sitting out day of the draft. Instead of fulling holes threw the draft they did it by FA.
The Browns have done a terrific job of targetting their needs and finding players that fit their team. They added a big Nose Tackle and a defensive end to their 3-4 to keep OL off their dynamic young LBs (which may actually be the best young LB corps in football). They brought in a #2 WR to give them a scary top 3 options catching the football in Edwards (top ten wideout), Winslow (top 3 TE), and Stallworth (a proven 2nd WR). The only player they lost (I believe) is Leigh Bodden, and he wasn't even starting because of their depth at corner. Anderson might have to prove himself again, but they still have 2 at least quality QBs and a franchise LT.
That is all correct, except for the Bodden thing. He was a starter last year and was very good. The Lions did good to unload Rogers for Bodden and a draft selection. Rogers needed a change of scenery. Alas, he'll still likely be a headache. The Lions had massive trouble in their secondary last year and Bodden will help change that.
