Two birds? If the Jets are looking to bolster their cornerback position and get rid of Dewayne Robertson, they might be able to do both in one shot. In an interview with Newsday's Alex Labidou, the agent for Domonique Foxworth of the Broncos says that his client would be interested in playing for the Jets. Foxworth is a restricted free agent with the Broncos, a team that is known to be in the market for a defensive lineman. Like, say, Robertson. There aren't any current talks between the teams, Jim Ivler said, but it's possible that as Robertson's $3 million roster bonus deadline gets closer and Foxworth's frustration with his role in Denver increases, the teams could find a way to swap headaches.
If you're going to cut and paste something, which we'd prefer you not do anyway, please provide the link next time at least, otherwise it's just plagiarism... http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/blog/
yea i hear yea...its late and i want to go to bed....i usually always leave links...so no one cares about this? i thought this would be intriguing if we got picks out of it too
I think trading D-Rob is a near impossibilty because of his contract number. He won't restructure down from a contract that pays him as a top 10 defensive player.
It's pure speculation, which is why I didn't post it earlier. It's an idea that makes a lot of sense though. I don't know a whole lot about Foxworth, but Robertson is someone we really should move by the draft or at latest May 31st. We could really use another cornerback to compete, and Foxworth could do that.
Wasn't Denver going to send Foxworth and a 2nd for Rogers? If Robertsons knee problem is as bad as they say it is, we should see if we could get Foxworth and a 3rd or a 4th from them. Fact is, if the knee problem is THAT bad, then a trade like that would be a coup.
Cincy offered a 4th & 5th and that was the best offer. What makes you think Denver would now offer a better draft pick and a starting CB?
Because they offered something similar to Detroit... the fact that a deal hasn't been struck yet makes me believe that his knee condition really is that bad and the Jets are stuck with dead weight. Does anyone know when his contract expires? The Jets will likely have to eat the salary until it runs out.
If the Broncos accept this deal I would do handstands. Domonique Foxworth is a very young and up coming player ,and if we trade for him we don't have to draft a CB and now we can try to draft Joe Flacco.
oh please--accusing someone of plagiarism over something like this--I'll bet you were the class snitch in grade school too
It's not his contract. He had negotiated with Cincinnati. It's his knee. He is not healthy. Bone on bone the same as Martin had and you know where that left him. Nobody wants to give up draft picks for damaged goods. Not when they won't have to after June 1st.
Yeah, bone on bone, the same as Martin, which is why Robertson lines up on the defense week in and week out, just like Martin on off.... oh, wait... Martin retired because of a knee condition? Must not be quite the same I guess if DRob can keep on lining up out there, eh? Sure Robertson has a bum knee where in the future he'll start having some problems. The issue isn't the knee in Cincinnati. The problem is that we just signed a big ol' bull for the the middle of our line and that makes Robertson and his salary expendable. Teams know this and will wait until he's cut.
Next time I expect a full Works Cited page in MLA format. Anything less, and I'll dock you a full letter grade.
is Foxworth really worth a 3rd rounder... im not knocking him i just havent seen him play enough to make up my mind on this one.. would there be something better in the draft at CB??
