Titans agreed to terms with WR Justin McCareins on a one-year, $1 million contract. <-- That's minimum wage for a 7-9 year veteran! http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080312/SPORTS01/80312066/1002/SPORTS Wow...what a deal!
There aren't many young, veterans who've seen significant playing time available EVER for a base salary of under $1M..... McCareins sucks, but the Titans got a good deal
This is funny, from draftsharks.com, McCareins is officialy a bum eh? Titans sign ex-Jets WR The Tennessee Titans signed free-agent WR Justin McCareins (Jets) to a cheap 1-year/$1 million deal. McCareins will be reunited with OC Mike Heimerdinger, who he played for in Tennessee from 2002-2003, before they both went to New York. McCareins averaged 17.3 per catch (47-813-7) in Heimerdinger's offense in '03 but that was when Steve McNair was peaking. We'll see where he fits in now. McCareins is only 29 and is always healthy. He'll try to beat out Roydell Williams for the starting spot across from Justin Gage.
With Rodell Williams, Justin Gage and Justin McCarreins at his disposal, a ProBowl season is easily within Vince Young's reach. Tennessee's GM should get a contract extension for his most recent signing.
He was good the first time around with them which is why we signed him to begin with. He probably will be again.
