Cimini's blog at NY Daily News site this morning... "If the Jets acquire another tight end to play behind Chris Baker, it?s going to be someone other than the Colts? Ben Utecht. After visiting with Utecht earlier in the week, and holding discussions with his agent, the Jets are out of the mix, I?m told. Utecht, a decent pass catcher but nothing special, is demanding way too much money for a player of his ilk. Utecht is a restricted free agent, which means the Colts have the right of first refusal. The team that signs him would not be required to compensate the Colts with a draft pick. It now appears the Bengals are the favorite to land him. There?s not much left in the tight-end market. The top unrestricted free agents are Eric Johnson (Saints) and Jerramy Stevens (Bucs). How ?bout bringing back Kyle Brady, cut recently by the Patriots? Brady, the Jets? top pick in ?95, still can block."
Dissapointing, i was hoping we would bring in Utecht, he has good size and hands, and he also can block, so he would have most certainly helped us out. oh well, at least we still have Baker the Touchdown Maker!
That may be the most insane post I've ever seen you make. Kyle Brady is evil. He is like a demonic necromancer wearing a football uniform, casting maledictions on whatever football team he plays for. How else could a team have the greatest season in NFL history, go undefeated, and then lose the Super Bowl? I'll tell you how, they have Kyle Brady on their team.
Kyle Brady would be a great addition. We need a blocker. I'd rather try to pull Warren Sapp out of retirement with that dough, though. Why so angry, Edge? Why the rage? Are you trying to unlock Blitz and Flood? Did Kyle Brady transform your parents into hell-bound demons?
Arguing facts with idealogy = fail. You clearly don't remember the last time Kyle Brady was here. No, he has not improved.
From a blocking perspective, I for one wouldn't mind seeing Becht back here if he was available- of course I'm assuming that his terrific blocking skills haven't gone down hill since he left our beloved franchise. As much as we loved to bash him for his pass-catching inability, he's probably one of the best blocking TE's this team has ever seen.
They didn't release him. His contract was up and he left as a free agent. And I think (off the top of my head) it was after the 1998 season.
Hahahaha. "Kyle Brady is a good Blocker."- idealogy. "Kyle Brady is an evil, demonic necromancer."- fact! Got it. My bad.
Say what you want about Kyle Brady but in real life, he's a hell of a nice guy. He runs a football camp where I live for kids every year. He gives back to the town he grew up in. I still think he's one of the best blocking TE in the league. That's just my opinion.
Wait- was that a "sneak" reference? Damn! I've been out-allusioned!!! I'd expect as much from Eblan's finest, you sneaky bastard.
