The new schedule will be breaking soon and I was wondering if anyone thought we might get a "primetime" game? On last years performance it would seem unlikely but there could be some intriguing games with side issues. New England back at the meadowlands after 'cameragate' and the sour relationship between the coaches would interesting. 'Tuna' back at the Jets with the fish is always worth thinking about. I'm always surprised at some of the NFL matchups picked for the big games and woudn't be surprised if we drew the 'Cards' (no pun intended) for one of the national tv games. What's your views?
I think the chances are slim because the Jets have been playing boring football for a while now. All the underlying issues and sideshows can only be talked about for so long to fill in the gaps between mind-numbing play. The Jets may actually be exciting this year with some of the new players coming in, but I wonder if the TV execs will be too worried about more yawners on their schedule. If the Jets do get primetime games, they will probably be early in the season, when the games will still matter. On a side issue, how many times to you think Sky will show the Jets this year in the UK?
I think if we land McFadden, we would open some networks eyes and make us look attractive. We MAYBE can land a national game with San Diego or the Tenn Vince Young's.
Big acquisitions during the offseason plus possibly Darren McFadden plus an expected bounce back season should equal one Monday night game and another national TV game (possibly one on NFLN).
Any argument for a Jets-Dolphins primetime game is unlikely because 3rd and 4th place teams never get on Monday night together. I'm guessing the Jets best bet for primetime is early in the season against the Pats. The networks will want to schedule the Jets early before their season can possibly disintegrate.
Miami has the No.1 pick overall, and thus they will get some hype. ESPECIALLY if they do draft Matt Ryan..... If Miami drafts Ryan and Jets draft McFadden, I can defintely see NBC make a play for it and put it as one of the final games of the year........NBC wouldent sweat it either if both teams stink, they can simply flex the game.
IF we are good then we will likely get a flex game later in the season. The Jets and Giants have asked the league NOT to schedule Mon Night games due to the traffic on a work night w/ all the construction going on at the meadowlands so we will not be getting a home Mon Night game but I could see a road Monday nighter.
i hope we don't play any sunday or monday night games. I like my Jets on at 1pm or 4pm. Just fine with me.
Same here, its hell waiting until Monday night. I look forward to the week ending and watching football, when its a Monday night game you have go through the whole weekend, and then into the next week (work week). I'm fine with no Sunday/Monday night games.
Does Sky Sports typicall play a lot of Jets games? I've been working out of Windsor for most of this year, which is where i am right now. If the assignment extends, I'll either need to get a Slingbox to my NY TV, or look into the local England options...
Both the Jet and Giants have asked to be excluded from Monday night games during the week due to the parking situation so definitely no home games. I hate Sunday night games so I hope its on the road if we have one.
I too don't like night games. They require vacation time from work and I just feel lost on Sunday morning and afternoon if they are not playing.
Best bet for a Monday night game probably is the Patriots. Face it - the out-of-division schedule is not that glamorous (although we should do better with it compared to last year!). Mike
two years ago there was a prime time game like week 15 that was saints at jets. it was the worst professional football game i have ever witnessed and there were more punts than the patriots had all of last year. that's when our prime time respect went down the tube and its gunna take a while to get it back
