Qbs are everything in the NFL so taking the best one at 6th couldn't be that bad of a move. Its not like we have a locked QB situation because we don't. I say give Kellen another year for sure but I remember him miss throws on wide open check down passes. It made me wonder and I still think about it. Anyway I really do trust the Coaching Stadd especially when it comes to the draft. I am sure they will make the right decision, they have a pretty good track record for it.
I agree with you. We have too many needs bigger than a RB to use with the #6 overall pick. I think we need to keep building a dominant defense and we can get a major piece of that with such a high pick. With the O-line fixed up, I think our QBs and RBs will automatically be better, biggest need on offense to me is a big-time WR.
yeah, Henne has a big arm and is tough, and he's played against solid competition. he'd definitely need to develop, but i think he has potential to be a good starter if he's committed.
Flacco, Henne, and Brohm are really no different than Clemens. Huge question marks surround their NFL potential. At the very worst Ryan in Trent Dilfer version 2.0. Dilfer, even today, is better than what we have on our roster. I'm just terrified we'll take a HGH fueled workout warrior or a skinny legged ACL waiting to happen, and watch Ryan win a superbowl with another team.
one just never knows. but i trust one of best qb judges in country, steve logan. he says a lock to be a star in nfl.
Are you saying that the need for a WR is so great, you want to take a receiver with the 1st pick? If that is the case, which receiver is worth reaching and paying #6 money?!
I think you might be over-reacting with the Dilfer comment. I'm sure you meant Dilfer when he won a SB with the Ravens (and even then you have that great defense to thank some). Trust me, had we signed Dilfer this offseason, I don't think anybody on this Message Board will be buying "Super Bowl Bound" t-shirts. You have reason to be terrified. Every player has a chance to be a bust. A lot of it depends on talent around the team, coaching, and schemes to see if a player can be successful and later on, probably blossom into a Pro-Bowler.
I'll tell you what, if Ryan had gone to school at a certain SoCal school, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. He reminds me so much of Leinart it's uncanny. And I mean in a good way. Sadly, then he'd be a Dolphin or Falcon. We got a chance at a good one here. His INT's were a little high, but far from our 5:10 ratio starter, but the rest of his senior stats were just disgusting. Oh yeah, and he won about twice as many games as the shitty BC squad around him had any business of winning.
My guess is this is a smokescreen. Not only to open up trade possibilities - but also because having Ryan go in the first 5 picks is key to getting a McFadden, Gholston, or either of the Long's to fall to us.
No, I'm saying I'd go defense with the #6 pick. We play in the AFC against a lot of good offensive teams, we need our D to get off the field on 3rd downs, which we never seem to be able to do. Jenkins and Pace were good additions, Harris, Revis and Rhodes are good young players, but we need more. Use this high pick for another blue chip defensive player, that's how you build a great defense and that's how you win. Regarding WR, I'm saying that's our biggest need on offense right now, in my opinion. I like Coles but he's one hit away from being done, I like Cotchery but he's only one guy. Whether it's a speed burner or a big, red zone type guy, I'd hope the first offensive pick we make--whicever round it may be--is a WR.
