I doubt we are getting McFadden and I am confident in our running game whether we get him or not and if we do get him I doubt we trade Jones.

Everyone is tradable but Thomas Jones does have a big, new contract and he's getting up there in years. I still love the guy but agree that the Jets should deal him if they take DMF. Sadly, I don't see anyone biting.

I think we will get McFadden but the two back offense is the wave of the NFL right now so I don't think Jones is going anywhere. Even if we tried to trade him we would never get what it cost us in a pick last year.

4 years for 20 million is hardly untradeable. In fact his salaries for the next three years break down as: 2008: $2 million, 2009: $900,000, 2010: $2.8 million. He is infinitely tradeable. And I definitely think we could get equal value that we paid for him. That said, at those prices, I'd keep him around as a backup no matter what...he's cheap and good.

The problem is that all of his bonus money paid to date escalates to this year's cap. That probably makes him untradable from the Jets viewpoint.

If we were to draft McFadden we wouldn't want to trade Jones. McFadden has never been a workhorse back and has always been part of a 2 back system.

Jones + McFadden would be a good 1-2 combo.

Raiders are going to save us alot of Trade Thomas Jones threads because they won't let DMC fall past their pick.

Why would we ever trade Thomas Jones?

we dont trade thomas jones. hes only got 2 yrs left anyways. what you do do though, is help keep leon fresher for return duties. and also utilize McFadden or Washington in the slot while whoever of the 3 is running the ball.

2 years later you have McFadden (2 years with thomas jones) Washington (1 with martin, 3 with Jones)

two young incredibly gifted RB's with great tutelage to start their career. (leon will be entering his prime at this point)

mcfadden would make the options endless in our offense. schotty would drool at the oppertunity.

you all can say defense wins championships but what it comes down to is scoring points and making clutch offensive plays when it matters.

The guy that gets screwed if we draft McFadden is Leon, I feel leon eneds to be a bigger part of the offense but he'll have a lesser role if we take McFadden.

I love TJones but I love Leon more. McFadden plus Leon would be awesome even though McFadden and TJones would be more of a classic thunder/lightning approach. Still, I really want to see more of Leon.

Chatman could feel TJ's shoes, of course the Jets should trade.

We should not trade Jones, even with McFadden on board. Jones still is a good runner, and I am not convinced McFadden is an every down back. Also, McFadden (and Washington) still could learn from an experienced, successful vet like Jones. Also, keeping Jones would ensure we have outstanding depth at a position that suffers a lot of injuries. Finally, this seems like a very deep draft for RBs and, consequently, Jones is worth much, much, much, much more to the Jets than is likely trade value (you don't see too many teams rushing to pick up Shaun Alexander, do you?).

Yea, guess he was going for "fill" his shoes. But Chatman is definitely not as good as Jones, but is probably the closest thing to a power back that we have.

it doesn't take a Rhodes Scholar to figure that one out... or does it?

Ya, that's my contribution to this thread, so suck it.
