Just picked this up on KFFL. Anyone have info on him other than his measurables? He's 5'10", 200 lbs, runs a 4.5.
Lyles was flat-out awesome for the first half of his career (starting as one of only two true freshman). He was best known for his unbelievable hitting, which was just vicious. Then in 2005 he suffered a neck injury by what many thought to be career ending. He was in rehab all the way until the following spring and then came back. Ever since, he hasn't been a liability by any means, but he wasn't as omnipresent as he was before the injury. The funny thing is that he didn't lose his hitting ability. He didn't turn timid or anything like that. In my (very humble) opinion, being off the field for so long made him lose that sense of fluidity and the second-nature of how a play would develop. Basically, he just seemed rusty and was just starting to shake that rust off. Predictions? No idea. Either way, he's tough and works really hard. He'll work his ass off on special teams, not just because that's the path to playing on the field, but because that's what he supposed to do. I hope he gets the chance to give the crowd one of his old "Ooooooh" hits. He gave us quite a few in Charlottesville.
Thanks Wahoo! Sounds like he could be a good pickup if he's able to regain his prior form. I'm always down for some great special teams players, too.
