That's why all 32 franchises will be trying to work out kinks between now and the preseason. FOXSports.com senior NFL writer Alex Marvez takes a look at one pressing need for every club. AFC EAST ~ ~ ~ New York Jets Pressing need: Settling on a starting quarterback. Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens are competing for the spot. Possible solution: The easy one would have been parting ways with Pennington, which seemed destined to happen after he was benched midway through last season. But Clemens didn't show enough to Jets management in eight starts to justify such a move. If Clemens enjoys a spectacular preseason and 2008 fifth-round pick Eric Ainge develops quickly, the Jets could try moving Pennington and his $6 million base salary elsewhere. > http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8098238/Pressing-needs-for-every-NFL-team
I don't disagree with that assessment. Hopefully Clemens can establish himself early and get a lot of reps with Coles and Cotchery.
You know what you got in Penny why not give Clemens a real shot considering we finally have a good O-Line and our D is 2x better then last season [Atleast on Paper] so i wouldnt mind giving it to Clemens but Tangini will with out a doubt make them battle for it in TC.
WhiteShoeWillie, another chance to say the same things. It's just too bad we won't be able to see all the off-season. The CS are their own audience and it would be very instructive to be able to see what they see and then gauge viability of the decisions they make as a result. The real season is the testing ground, but all the tactics, strategy, and roster are decided behind closed doors. The NFL as a "Reality Show" however would probably be just too nerve racking for CS to survive.
The position is open and I would much rather have a QB competition between CP and KC rather than just handing the job to KC...we all know the deal..whoever gives us the best chance to win will play... It's much better than consistently cheating to win..
