Obviously some people not in Jets lockerroom took a notice of how Pete reneged and got his wish. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3437205 Boy, NFL is beautiful.
dont see what chris baker has to do with this. baker has 0 leverage, Burress, plenty. lol. Howabout, their offense sucks without the guy and everybody knows it. So with three years left on his deal he wants a full long term extension and more money. thats the deal.
I don't like the situation, but Burress is underpaid. He signed a 6 year-25 million deal with 8.25 million dollar signing bonus. So I understand why he wants more. But I certainly don't want him getting paid tons of money, ie Javon Walker kind of money, 6 year- 55 million with a 15 million signing bonus. It will be interesting how this all plays out especially since we want to extend Snee and Jacobs.
Pay Burress. He deserves it. This is a no brainer for the NYG, in the same league as the issue with the NYJ's Kerry Rhodes.
These two aren't even remotely related. Plax has proved his value time and time again. Baker hasn't proved shit. Holdouts and things don't bother me in the NFL if players deserve a better contract. If Plax was an underachiever, the Giants would threaten him for money back/reduced pay or be cut... Contract disputes in the league go both ways IMO.
Completely agree with what everyone is doing, the Giants would be stupid not to give Plax what he deserves, he just helped them win the superbowl. I don't mind players wanting more when they deserve it.
I agree with everyone's post. However, what bothers me is that, since the market seems to always be going up year after year, isn't more than likely that a contract which was signed on by a player...oh, say...3 years ago, that he's most likely going to be underpaid. NFL teams should be allowed to have a clause in their contract that states if a player who chooses NOT to honor their contract because of market flux should return "x%" to the team from their new deal. Or something along those lines, because this is ridiculous imo.
This just goes to show that this is a league wide problem. Players/agents have started playing hardball.
The Problem is that the Salary Cap went up so drastically the last 2 years. I mean you have a Urlacher bitching about more money, who signed the richest contract for a D-Player ever 3 years ago, and has 3 years left on what was a murder Deal 3 years ago. Those players see average Joe or some Rookie sign for the same $$$ they get for a lot less production and get pissed.
