damn I really liked the guy. I was hoping he'd get his contract worked out or whatever and play next season.. now I can't even believe I defended this schmuck.

Um his production has been slipping the last two years and his Qb was Brett Farve not Chad Pennington. Once again this could be a disaster.

Franks has got to get on the field first before we can evaluate his performance...injury plagued, we can't rely on this guy

    Huh?...Wha?

As far as I've heard, he's been kicking ass in the OTAs.

It's better to be safe than sorry. If the team wants to get rid of baker at least have another option to Franks that can block.

I would definitely trade him. It's sad, but we have depth there. Someone should remind him that no Pro Bowls equals no pay raise.
I always liked Baker...but I think the team's doing what's right. I mean, ask yourself this: does Chris Baker give us GAME CHANGING impact? Obviously not. Does he have upside? Yes. But I think we have to stop handing out big contracts to folks who can't change the game?or at least, those who haven't proven it tremendously yet...and Baker really hasn't, except for a few nice catches and a couple of good games.

Maybe this regime learned from Bryan Thomas, and they now are hesitant to spend more on perpetuating our mediocre-to-good talent.

Pociask is that option, so far the kid shows that he is ready to work and did well last year in the limited roles he saw. He missed his rookie season with an injury. But I think this kid can be a good Special Teams player and block on running plays. Maybe the occasional TD pass like last year.

Keller is the receiving option to Baker leaving. But faster, with hands almost as good, and an ability to frustrate a defense.

I was under the impression that Franks' strength IS as a blocker. The catching ability is looked at as a bonus.

Besides, I wasn't defending our TE depth, just the fact that BF is currently injured.

you said we need another blocking TE...

If Franks would not have struggled, he would still be in GB. And Baker isn?t a elite-TE, he is better, then the 2007 Franks, but not by much, imo.

    Very simple. Baker's under contract.

We either get a good trade offer for him and trade him or he plays. And Chris, STFU by the way.
