Here's the scoop for the Jets......2nd Rd still in the mix for the Jets if Vilma get's 85% of the snaps for the Saints.

I haven't see this scenario posted before...............I found it on Great Blue North Draft Report.

Shockey deal contingency plan? Turns out there is a bit of rider in the deal in which New Orleans acquired TE Jeremy Shockey from the Giants earlier this week. As compensation, the Saints will reportedly send the Giants second and fifth round picks at the 2009 draft. However, New Orleans could have to send their 2009 second rounder to the Jets as part of a conditional deal in which the Saints acquired LB Jonathan Vilma from the other New York team for a 4th round pick this year. That pick could escalateto a second rounder though if Vilma were to play 85% of the Saints? defensive snaps this fall and the Saints sign him to a new deal by the end of the season. If the conditions are met then the Giants would then receive a first-round pick in 2010 instead of the 2nd and 5th round picks in 2009. It is likely though that the Saints probably will find a way to prevent Vilma from reaching those criteria so they don't have to give up a first-rounder.

shit, they'd lose a fist and a second. not a chance Vilma sees 85% of the snaps this season even if he is completely unstoppable.

So this is just like the D-Rob trade. All we can do is hope that there are injuries in the Saint's linebacker crew and the Bronco's D-line rotation.

Wrong!!!! Read it again! Saints lose the 1st in 2010 only........if Vilma gets 85%.

Jets get the 2nd in 2009.

dude even if vilma is unstoppable and plays every snap, they just wont pursue a long term contract until after the year is over which means we have no chance at that second

No, he's right - the Saints lose a second for Vilma and a first for Shockey, but not in the same draft.

The Saints would have to sign Vilma to a new deal too.

    I agree LOL.
Leon Washington - Kerry Rhodes - Jerricho Cotchery.
We do a bang-up job in the 4th round.

    Here's hoping its not a 3rd rounder;
Anthony Schlegel - Eric Smith - Derrick Strait.

    That's what I said. I believe 2009 & 2010 are 2 different years :)!!!

    2009.....Jet's get Saint's 2nd Rd
2010.......Giants' get Saints 1st Rd. Nothing in 2009!!

Vilma will get 85% of the snaps, if he doesn't get injuryed. The new contract will be the problem.

Winner of second place of the stupid comment of the day. I guess the Jet's should decline 2nd rd and 3rd picks from now on.

He is a middle linebacker. If he's healthy, 85% of the snaps will not be an issue. Signing him before the end of the year may be, but of course, if he's awesome and they don't sign him, they will either have to franchise him (and I'm not sure how that will affect our pick) or they'll lose him. Risky for the Saints.
