i personally think this would be nuts: 4) Young 29) McNeil 35) Lawson 71) Calhoun 97) Cook (center from New Mexico) :steelers: :eaglessuck: :finssuck: :jets:
any talk of leinart or young will produce a clone thread of constant debate. meanwhile i would love this draft :breakdance:
What's the fascination with Calhoun? The guy is small, slow, and showed little big play ability in college. I'm not going to give him a pass because he "fixed" his time in his campus workout. I certainly wouldn't burn a day one pick on him. Cook is big and might give us some versatility between center and tackle, but again, I don't know that he's worth a first day pick. I could see a guy with that much overall size spending a bunch of time on his ass, to put it quite bluntly. -X-
I repect your opinion tremendously, but I watched a lot of Calhoun this year, and he can run the ball. And slow? Negative. His 40 time at the combine was the exception rather then the rule. He's a quick runner who's vision, cutting ability, and patience are all excellent, and very much like our own Curtis Martin's abilities. If he is there when the first of the 2 third round picks come up, and the Jets don't take him, I'll be very upset.
Its not as bad as pre-draft. You will get a few "we should have drafted (insert player) but usually we all get stoked for mini-camp and what happens there.
Tony, I saw a bunch of Calhoun as well, and I saw him as quick rather than purely fast. I think he has great vision and footwork, and the numbers are certainly there, but at his size I'm just very uncertain. I should have made that more clear. I don't completely dislike him, but I'm more interested in a guy with more every-down potential. -X-
fair enough..youre right,i cant be sure...but the guy can play de or lb probably and he had an awesome combine...his speed is tremendous so i highly doubt he'll get out of the first round...but youre right i shouldnt have said no way...but the young pick,i can say no way:beer:
Lawson's name has been thrown around plenty as a late round pick which is why its hard to believe that he would be there at #35. Anything is possible but it doesnt seem likely.
Lawson was voted team MVP on a line that included Mario Williams. His athleticism is undeniable, and you can always add some size. It's not as if guys like Hali and Kiwanuka are phenomenal athletes, so teams might be more inclined to take a chance on Lawson than either of those two. -X-
