Maybe the fact that the game is going so slow either: A: made the fans forget about the first two runs or B: Made the fans think that it was the eight or so or C: Mets fans still applaud mediocrity. I'm going with C
I just got home from the airport, about to get a bite to eat...did Murphy get snubbed in the dugout after the homer? Just curious.
Beltran finally hits one out! No, Murphy wasn't snubbed - they pushed him out for a curtain call, in fact.
Heilman shockingly gets through his third straight appearance without giving up a run, for his second save in a row. Mets stay 1 game out.
Nah they just recognize that you can't exactly expect much from the tenth starter the Mets have tried this season or however many they've had. And Stokes really did have a good outing until one pitch to Jacobs and at least prevented the pen from having to get 17 outs  Besides, it's nice to see the crowd a little more patient now. Early in the season every last strikeout or two-ball count elicited boos.
Murphy has gotten on base in all 7 of his games this season (including an 0-0 with a BB performance).
He's been great against Florida (11 IP, 0 runs, 3 hits), but he's pitched well against lots of other teams too. His ERA is 11.85 in 27+ IP against Atlanta, Cincinnati, Houston, the Dodgers, Washington, Philadelphia and San Diego, and 0.50 in 36 IP against everyone else. That tells you that when he's good, he's good, but when he's bad, he's really bad, and the stats back that up. In 62 appearances (61 of which were 2 innings or less), he's given up no earned runs 43 times, but he's given up at least 2 earned runs 12 times. Compare that to 2007 (63 appearances giving up no earned runs, 10 giving up two or more), 2006 (58 giving up no earned runs, 11 giving up two or more), and 2005 (38 relief appearances giving up no earned runs, 3 giving up two or more), and you can see why his ERA is in the 5's this year, instead of in the 3's - it's four or five more times than expected when he blew up completely.
Nobody watching the game at all? Murphy costs the Mets a run in LF, and Endy triples and scores a run for the Mets. 2-1 Marlins in the 4th.
He seems to be like Heilman, even in his good stretch - in his 14 starts since May 31, he's been very good-to-great in 9 of them (1.16 ERA) and awful in 5 of them (8.78 ERA). A little consistency would be nice.
